Is mac and cheese hard to make?

I had a beef burger from a restaurant that had a mac and cheese patty on it. Just pressed into a burger shape and coated in breadcrumbs.

I really fancy it again but place is obviously closed now.

Yup @Madcats, seen it Tesco the other day!

Anyone know of a mac n cheese recipe that doesn't taste floury?

You can usually buy macaroni cheese burgers in some supermarkets or places like Iceland, Heron etc. That sounds like a faff to make.

Do they even make tinned macaroni cheese now

Yes of course, but it's now disappointing due to reduction in salt and E numbers.

It’s the easiest thing ever.

Grate about 150g of cheese.

Preheat the oven to 180.

Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the packet.

In a pan, melt 50g butter and add 4 tbsp of flour. Cook for a minute or so, then remove from the heat and gradually whisk in 500ml of milk. You don’t want any lumps so keep whisking until smooth. Bring to the boil then remove from heat again and stir in the cheese.

Pour it all over the pasta and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Bake for about 30 mins.

If you have a slow cooker this is a ridiculously easy mac and cheese - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooker-mac-n-cheese

@PolaDeVeboise if your macaroni cheese tastes of raw flour, try cooking the roux for longer.

Thanks @Gobby.
