It’s ok if I don’t go for a walk. LIGHTHEARTED.

I just need to get this out somewhere before I snap at my poor mother. Grin

She has texted me every day for the past 3 weeks to check if I’ve been for a walk. I haven’t been every day. And when I haven’t she insists I should. I have two DC and I know the importance of maintaining a routine and getting outside but I also know it’s fine to “miss” a day of walking to the same park 5 minutes away to do the same few laps of it before coming back home again. We also have a garden we are out in every day. No-one is sitting in a darkened room having forgotten how to function. We are all fine despite the missing walks on our calendar. I’ve started lying to her. Blush

You’re mum is right. Get out into the fresh air, if it’s not very warm but warm enough to get lower arms and legs into sunlight do it
Get as much exposure to the sun as possible
Vit d is crucial right now

Ah she is just trying to look out for you!! Having adult dc is as tough as having little dc ime!!
Especially right now when we can't see you!!.
Sad
Getting your dc out is good for their mh too!!

Humour her!!.

I know she is right. I just don’t need her to police this for me! Grin

If we get full lockdown, you'll wish you had.

neversleepagain · 06/04/2020 21:06

She is right op, especially with little ones. I feel my mood instantly lift while we're out walking. It's also lovely to watch dc run and laugh and not be stuck at home or in our small garden.

My dd is 30 and sometimes I check on weird things!!
Helps me sleep better!!
Grin
If you love her be glad she is on at you!!

Undies1990 · 06/04/2020 21:08

I hear you OP. I've not gone out for a 'Boris walk' at all since lockdown but I have spent a lot of free time doing gardening. I'm getting my exercise that way!

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 06/04/2020 21:08

They’re actually not little DCs. One is a big hairy teenager who mooches behind me at snails pace with his earphones in dreaming about being in bed. No running or laughing Grin

And I do very much appreciate my mother’s interest in me, I just don’t need such precise micro management Wink I’ve been doing this adult thing for quite some time.

It could be worse, she could be one of those timing how long you were out for, how many breaths you took and how far did you go.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 06/04/2020 21:12

^She could!

If she lived closer I suspect she would be!

We haven't been out everyday but DC have been playing football in the garden for a few hours each day. They're not bothered about going elsewhere and our cul de sac is empty do they ride their bikes up and down there some days instead. While yes you should really make the most of this lovely weather, you don't have to go for a walk. What would people do if it's raining??
