Can I use maple syrup instead of golden syrup?

I would definitely, it will probably taste really nice and maple-y. It's a bit more liquid than golden syrup so I'd probably simmer the mixture for a little bit longer.

You could also use honey of you have any.

I just made a Brunswick Bun and used maple syrup, as I didnt have golden syrup. It's just fantastic, the maple syrup complements the cinnamon very well. BTW I always use maple syrup in flap jacks (sometimes the Tate & Lyle version) and they are fine.
