Wrapping paper help

Can anyone suggest anywhere online I can get wrapping paper for my DDs birthday?

Card shops are either closed or only selling a few products.
Amazon are crazy prices for the only suitable papers I’ve found and on eBay the only suitable papers the sellers are listed as away with no return date.
I’ve tried google but that’s not coming up with anything suitable.

We’ve got a large b&m in town but I wanted to avoid going to a shop for non essentials.

Ah, 6 is a really lovely age. You could totally do the treasure hunt and no need to wrap presents. You could get a selection of her favourite toys and hide one in each room - guarding a present each. Then write her a little note telling her how many things she has to find.

I’d rather not use the credit card @daisypond but just feel like this birthday is going to be such a let down for her and she’s already so emotional about everything so want to make it as special as I can

Pillow case

daisypond · 06/04/2020 10:29

It will still be special if you don’t have wrapping paper. Do the treasure hunt. That’s a great idea and very special.

Or if you have a printer you could print out some paper with her favourite characters/ animals/ cute messages etc.? My DH gave me presents wrapped in old lining paper for my birthday the other day, had the kids draw on it - that could work too if you happen to have any around?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 06/04/2020 10:32

When do you need it for?

BabyMoonPie · 06/04/2020 10:32

Do you have any christmas paper left? Wallpaper? Do you save bags? Turn them inside out so you can't see the shop name

emilybrontescorsett · 06/04/2020 10:34

Have you got a cushion you could take the cover off and wrap it in that?
Otherwise use a pillow case and hide the presents around the house/garden. Do a treasure hunt for her to find the presents.
Perhaps out a trail is of buttons/sequins down to lead to the presents.

Thank you all, I’ll combine a couple of ideas and see what I can do
I have got some wallpaper left over from decorating her room so can paint/decorate that in some way to use and then do a treasure hunt for her Smile
Thank god I was organised and had already bought her presents and some decorations. I know she’ll still have a lovely day and I’ll make it as wonderful as I can for her

Been feeling like everything is against us lately but all your help and ideas makes me see it’s not really so bad

For the past few years we've used scarves and material. Like Japanese furoshiki but, sadly, less skilfully done.

That sounds brilliant. She’ll have a lovely day. Well done for making it so nice for her.

Weirdly, she might have a better birthday than usual as it’ll be different.

MakeUpGirl · 06/04/2020 10:45

Thank you @SquitMcJit I hope she does Smile she’s such a sociable little girl and really struggling missing school, her friends and our extended family and I just really want to put a smile back on her face
She’ll love a treasure hunt so I’m going to get planning and make it as fun as possible for her and will get her busy decorating the wallpaper too. She’ll laugh when she sees her presents wrapped in it

When do you need it for? I have some I could pop in the post for you if you want me to.

MakeUpGirl · 06/04/2020 11:09

@TheGreatWave that’s lovely thank you for the offer but I’ve got some ideas that’ll hopefully work and I don’t want to put anyone at risk just for wrapping paper

The plans sound exciting. Hope she has a lovely birthday.

One year the kids came to wrap my gift on Christmas Eve and there was no paper other than birthday paper left

So they got a pen and changed it to ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ and wrapped my gifts.

They thought this was hilarious!!

EnglishRose1320 · 06/04/2020 13:41

Glad it sounds like you've got the wrapping paper sorted. My son sounds similar and is worried about missing his friends on his birthday so they are all going to watch the same film at the same time and then facetime each other afterwards to chat about it, could that be an option for your daughter?

MakeUpGirl · 06/04/2020 15:28

I’m planning to FaceTime some friends and family on her birthday so will definitely have a chat with their mums about doing something similar
