I am making some bingo cards for the Queen's speech tonight.

Can you help me with some words or phrases she might say.

Obviously there will be:

My family
Coronavirus
Stay inside
Exercise
NHS

But I need a few more...

I wasn't expecting to be made a bit tearful

I have been feeling rather lost today Bonnie and found it a comfort. Appreciate it didn't float your boat though.

crustycrab · 05/04/2020 20:34

I think she managed to get through that without saying coronavirus, virus, covid-19 or unprecedented!

@TSSDNCOP I'm glad you got some comfort from it.

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 20:38

Thank you Bonnie. I hope you and your family stay safe and well.

I thought the we'll meet again comment a bit strange. People often say it at a funeral or when someone they loved has just died.

WarmSausageTea · 05/04/2020 20:43

I wasn’t expecting much from it, and I’m ambivalent about the royal family generally, but found it surprisingly powerful and affecting. I thought it was very well judged and delivered.

bonnieclydesdale · 05/04/2020 20:45

@TSSDNCOP and the same to you and your family.

I thought that was a reference to that WW11 song. I tested up at that. Brilliant touch.

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 20:50

I'm looking forward now to the one she does as the end of this. So we can have a terrific bringing together party.

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 20:51

It was Andy. Now I'd stand on my doorstep and belt that one out.

TheShoesa · 05/04/2020 20:53

I thought the We'll Meet Again was both a reference to the song and the war, but also as a reminder that 'this too shall pass' and then we will be able to go out and meet up with our friends again.

I am also surprised to be feeling somewhat emotional after watching that.

Andylion · 05/04/2020 20:54

I didn't "test" up. I teared up.

This is what I should have posted.

Did the Queen really say we'll meet again??

Bloody hell. As if.

HealingCalmingSoothing · 05/04/2020 20:59

I must be a very negative person but I thought the reference to we'll meet again to mean .... on the other side (knowing she is deeply religious).

chomalungma · 05/04/2020 21:20

Nice speech

No family photos - not much for the press to analyse in the background.

Apparently it was just her and a camera operator. I wonder how many takes it took.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 05/04/2020 22:55

It touched me.

And I too look forward to her speech when all this is done.

Lynda07 · 05/04/2020 22:57

I thought it was a good speech too and, like others, it touched me. I am so fortunate compared to many at the moment, I wish I could do more to help from the safety of my home.

Kinneddar · 05/04/2020 23:00

Oh God - I spit my tea across the garden, and then laughed 'till I cried

Hmm
