Hi I bought m&s' yellow sticker reduced chicken fajita stir fry 2 days ago and have completely forgotten about it, would you still say it would be safe to cook and eat today?

No.. not worth the risk with chicken

ChicChicChicChiclana · 02/04/2020 10:32

No. Absolutely not.

Chicken doesn't know the date. How does it smell, look, feel? These are more important than any date and the reason so much food is wasted.

You can't tell if chicken has had an overgrowth of salmonella or most of the other nasties. There are several ways in which food goes off that you can smell, taste, see and feel, but not all of them.

I'd not risk it with chicken, and if anybody in your household got really bad food poisoning and needed medical attention, then that's to be avoided at all costs at the moment.

2 days ago? It will be fine. Do you really think the suppliers time it to the last second? I bet they build in at least 48 hours' grace.

inwood · 02/04/2020 11:57

No I wouldst risk it with chicken. You can't always smell when it's gone bad.

Normalmumandwife · 02/04/2020 13:38

Should be fine...but depends as well on your fridge. I bought a new Samsung last year and the temperature control is astounding and stuff lasts so much lingers...fruit and veg especially

willowpatterns · 02/04/2020 13:40

No I wouldn't. And I'm someone who hates waste and usually feeds out of date stuff to DH

Ilikewinter · 02/04/2020 13:45

Mmm....this isnt just any out of date chicken, this is M&S out of date chicken.
