Travelling on the underground today what should I wear?

I’m a nurse first day back post op and since all this started. I’m not sure do I wear gloves and a mask or just wear what I normally do and be careful? I’m dreading getting in the lifts but I presume as it’s all hospital staff it will be staggered.

Mask and gloves, glasses/safety glasses. And, erm....clothes

Stay safe!

I've seen people wearing rain ponchos over their clothes on public transport.

Lotsofpots · 02/04/2020 06:36

I travel on the tube most days for work and most people are just wearing what they normally do. Some are wearing masks, I've seen a few with gloves and no one with safety glasses. I'm just going as normal and sanitising the minute I'm off.

I can’t beleive how busy it is and the first stop

Surely the answer is they need more tubes not less?

You are a nurse and you are asking if you should wear a mask. An actual real nurse?

joystir59 · 02/04/2020 06:52

The virus is spread through inhaling the exhaled breath of infected people. Travelling on the tube without wearing a mask is insane.

AlCalavicci · 02/04/2020 06:55

A hazmat suite is needed on the underground under normal circumstances isn't it Shock Grin

I have to use public transport but I don't wear gloves or mask, masks don't prevent catching it unless you have access to surgical style or respirator masks in my opinion. Gloves are only useful if you're
not going to touch anything else at all so, your phone keys and money etc that you would touch without gloves on later.

You’d be surprised how many hospital staff are wearing masks walking to work. Please don’t make fun. Yes I am an actual nurse who’s been out of the game for awhile.

Full protective gear and a crinoline dress?

joystir59 · 02/04/2020 07:15

We have only been told masks are not effective protection because there aren't any masks.

joystir59 · 02/04/2020 07:17

It makes sense that a mask will help prevent you sucking infected droplets into your lungs

So true.

Funny every hcp Ive seen in hospital has been wearing masks so there must be something in it.
