Any thoughts on what’s going on with my foot?

I noticed yesterday evening that there’s a red area on the top of my left foot. It’s not agonising painful or anything, but more of a constant ache. Tonight it feels a bit warm to touch but doesn’t feel anymore painful really than yesterday, unless I flex my foot or forget, and tuck my foot under me when I’m sprawled on the sofa. I’ve drawn marks round it to see if it gets any bigger. I don’t recall banging my foot at any time either. Can you bruise without a bruise if you get what I mean? I’ve attached a photo. Thanks.

Possibly Cellulitis- sometimes accompanied with a fever. You'll need antibiotics so I'd call 111.

Is it hot to the touch, or itchy? Any bite or sting marks? If not, it is unlikely to be cellulitis. Have you been out walking in the woods or exercising and stumbled or twisted your ankle a few days ago and forgotten about it? My twisted ankle bruise took over a week to appear at the surface, and it still aches weeks later.

It looks like a ganglion. They're not normally painful unless they press on nerves.

I had one on my wrist. At first, it was unsightly rather than painful but then it started making my hand a bit numb. I accidentally ruptured it eventually whilst violently shaking my hand back and forth to get some feeling back but that's not the recommended method.

If they're not painful Doctors recommend to leave them but otherwise they can be drained.
