When do Tesco take the money for home deliveries?

I’ve read that it is AFTER the shopping turns up but I’ve noticed sometimes that it comes out of my bank before they even turn up and any subs that I decline end up being processed as refunds.

I’m just nervous because I’m cutting it close with our delivery tomorrow money wise and if thing ends up costing more, it’ll push me over my balance so I’m worried they wouldn’t send the shopping. At least if they came first, I could decline an item or two to keep it under the bank balance!

Does anyone know for sure how it works? I’m really panicking!

They take it on the day of delivery. My delivery was due last Wed night, then was cancelled at the last minute. The money had already been taken. It was refunded within a couple of days alongside a £10 voucher off future delivery as an apology.

Mine comes out my account the morning of my delivery. I had an order between 5 & 6pm on Friday. It showed as a pending transaction on Friday morning. Any returns are refunded a couple of days later

And if your payment is declined because of insufficient funds theyll phone to give you the option of paying with another card (I had the embarrassment of my payment being declined once because I used my debit card instead of my credit card just before pay day) Unfortunately they cant remove anything from the order to reduce the cost. You either need to pay the total or they wont deliver

They take the payment of the day of delivery. If the card doesn't go through then they call you and ask for an alternative payment.

If the can'r get through they still send the delivery out and leave you a voicemail, as long as you get back to them before delivery they will still deliver.

Even if you have not got back to them they may come back to you later in the day with your delivery.

Can you tell this has happened to me more than once?

Thank you for the replies everybody! That’s a relief to see they generally try and get in touch rather than just abandoning you! I’ve just checked and the money has come out already and something must be out of stock (it’s going to be my smash, I can feel it!) because the price was a bit under! The feeling of relief from missing items is a new one Grin
