Any advice? Ordinarily I would ring an electrician but that's not an option now. Any hints or tips greatly appreciated.

I assume as you said oven and hob rh6e are seperate units ?

If they are both shouldn't of gone at the same time, unless one tripped the red and both are connected together

HugeAckmansWife · 30/03/2020 20:28

If you can afford to replace, I hugely recommend AO

You could maybe talk it through on phone with an electrician and get their opinion

Can you check fuse box put fuse back up and then check oven only see if that works if it trips reset fuse turn off oven and check if hob works. It may isolate which item has broken.
If its the hob look underneath it it will either be on a plug which is really easy to fit or a wire in which is harder.

My mum's oven broke the other day, hers was insured, they came out Friday and fixed it. electricians are key workers so you'll get someone

Takeitonthechin · 30/03/2020 21:18

Sounds like a fuse has gone in the main fuse board

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/03/2020 21:20

Are they all one unit?
Check your fuse box, then phone an electrician. They’ll probably be able to diagnose the problem over the phone.
Good luck

Are you in Herts?

User721 · 30/03/2020 21:21

My washing machine broke down today. Hotpoint are still sending engineers out to fix cookers washers and fridges.

LesLavandes · 31/03/2020 10:40

I think ovens and hobs have a separate fuse on their socket

qazxc · 31/03/2020 18:30

As both have gone at the same time, I'd say it probably is a trip or fuse problem. I've checked the trip switches and all are on. That's the extent of my electric knowledge. I don't want to mess about and make things worse. DP has brought back a double hot plate / hob til we can source an electrician.
