Well intentioned, but stupid in the current circumstances

Our local community group has a post today from a woman along the lines of "I'm going to make a big pot of soup tomorrow. Anyone is welcome to come to my house with a plastic tub and we'll fill it up for you."
Surely this is a silly thing to do in the current situation?

Our community did a book and jigsaw swap where people left them outside their houses.

@Corneliawildthing That's lovely, and fine. As long as she does social distancing and the swap over of the plastic box is done by leaving it outside, and then she picks it up...

I’m not sure I agree - virus dies when soup is heated, if they specially distance is it any worse than going to a supermarket? Surely some people will need free food and worth the risk to them.

I wouldn’t trust anyone I don’t know really well to have good hygiene practices even without the added corona element.

My local Tesco was giving out starburst in the queue yesterday!

At least Starburst are wrapped!

Someone did the same for nhs workers to collect in the morning. I'd be wary accepting food from a stranger at the best of times

A woman near me went to the local greggs when they closed and got mountains of stuff. Luckily it was a dry night and she had pallets of it in her yard and some just inside but people helped themselves. They did social distancing. Was really nice of her. She's doing loads for the community.
