*lighthearted* asked elderly neighbour if she needed any food

I don't really know my neighbour but since the outbreak I've knocked on the door and asked her if she needs any help or food. I've picked up a few things for her in the last couple of weeks. Now I'm going to attempt to go shopping tomorrow so I put a note through her door asking if she needs anything. I got a note back from her saying she is going shopping tomorrow for the elderly shopping and she can do it all herself. I'm finding it a bit amusing maybe I should be asking her to get me eggs and milk. Anyone else tried to help?

DH went to morrisons today, had to queue outside as one in one out rules in force.
Said he saw at least 5 elderly COUPLES being turned away and being told only one person was allowed in, madness.

My elderly neighbour popped round last week to check on me, she calls me now to check I’m ok. I think this is the only way I can check on her. Reverse psychology.

My elderly neighbour (75) looks after all the other “old dears” as she calls them. Or she did before SI. I hope I have her young-at-heart outlook when I get to her age, she still thinks she’s 21. She’s fab.

I guess it was my own fault for offering to help. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My elderly (early 80’s with long term lung issues) neighbour gave me a shopping list that included going to the bank and health food shop. I was planning to only visit the supermarket as DH is vulnerable, but I’d offered to help so felt I couldn’t let him down.

I did his shop and left the bag in the porch. He came out to collect and say thank you. Next breath, he tells me he’s planning to go to the outdoor farmers market on Saturday for his usual veg shop.

(Where I live, we’re not in official lockdown but advised to only go out for essentials.)

MIL looks after the ' old lady' up the street. MIL is 78. Old lady is 80.

My nan only recently moved to a care home. One of the reasons she didn't want to go, was because it was full of 'old people'. She is 99

I picked up a prescription this morning for an older neighbour. I would say that about half the people in the (well spaced) queue were in the 70+ category. I asked one woman if she had a neighbour who could do it for her and she said she didn't like to ask because they had already been so good getting her shopping.

We’ve already said we’re going to have to glue one of the grannies to her chair .. dp’s threatened to go board her door.. if he knew she wouldn’t fly out the back n beat him with the rolling pin. Woman’s on bloody oxygen n she acts more able than us now.. perhaps she’s modifying her mask n only breathing “Canned” air now as a safety measure.

The oldies seem to fall in two camps.. not opening the letter box too far incase it gets them or bloody terminator.

My 90year old neighbour clung on to going for himself until the Boris announcement when he finally gave in and took me up on my offer.

He is mortified that he asked me to buy wine and thinks it is shameful that someone now knows he is 'a drinker'.

Bless him, he must have said thank you about 50 times when I spoke to him on the phone earlier!

Ha! I love the 99 year old grandmother that didn't want to go live with all the old people!

My grandfather lived until he was 90. And he still called nursing homes the "old folks home."

dd asked a neighbour who she is very friendly with if she needed anything, reply was 'fuck off my darling, I'm not that bloody old' she is 80

Three sets of my mum's neighbours have asked her if she needs help. My DM is only 63!!

My DDad is in his 70s and works in a supermarket to make some extra cash. He hasn’t yet been told not to come in to work, in fact they’re giving him more hours. He’s of the opinion that ‘I’ve never had a day off sick’ so sees no need to stop. I hope his employer come to their senses.

I realised with some horror today that I am the elderly neighbour. I'm 39. All the other houses on our street are occupied by students. They should be bringing me bread
