Educational apps or games to play against each other?

Hi all,
I'm currently isolating away from my family. Does anyone know of any games that I could download on my phone and my 9 year old son could download on his tablet for us to play against each other? Something that is educational but fun? Quizzes or something? I'm hoping his competitive nature might encourage him to do some home learning.

QuizUp, Words With Friends (which is basically scrabble)

You have 1 minute to find an answer to each of 5 randomly allocated categories with a randomly allocated letter.

You can play against each other or random strangers (no other communication available so no risk). It's hard to start with but other peoples answers quickly become your answers so that fairly quickly, with most letters you can get 3 to 5 of the answers.

If you play it with your son you could communicate after each round and see if you can work out any more answers - I often find answers come to me as soon as the the time is up and the pressure is off.

Kahoot is good for quizzes.

Gimkit is good. Like kahoots you can write your own questions (education) but you then play for money... it’s very competitive and exciting! We’ve played with other families at a distance, using a phone camera so we can see each other.
