Or would I get frowned at? I've noticed that asda have put 2m marks on their floors. I know you can go for walks with members of your household, but is it just one person shopping for essentials?

Shops are limiting the number of customers at any time so if you did that you stop someone else shopping at that time. Could you manage on your own? Or he could wait in the car to help you with unloading the trolley?

TheQueef · 25/03/2020 10:53

No just one of you in the shop.

Hoppinggreen · 25/03/2020 10:55

Unless there’s a reason you physically can’t shop alone then do so

xyzandabc · 25/03/2020 10:55

You'd have to have a very good reason for needing 2 of you. Is there no way either of you could do the shopping on your own?

Justmuddlingalong · 25/03/2020 10:56

I think unless you are in a wheelchair and need assistance from him, then no. Shops limiting customer numbers and social distancing mean that the fewer people going at the same time the better.

NCTDN · 25/03/2020 10:56

OK thanks. That's what I thought. I can manage but we're shopping for two sets of parents too. I don't want anyone thinking we're flaunting the rules so will play safe.

I will relish my time on my own. Why on earth would you want to go with your DH, they're a PITA in supermarkets at the best of times 🤣

theswordthatdangles · 25/03/2020 11:11

The issue you will have anyway is visiting multiple households on the same day thus increasing the risk of transmission. As I see it, there are 2 ways round this.

The best option is to shop for yourself weekly. On week 1 you or DH does a fortnight's shop for one set of parents. On week 2 you or DH does a fortnight's shop for the other set, dropping the shopping outside their doors so there is no contact.

Alternatively, if you need to do weekly for them and you are a 2 car family, you shop for your parents and half your shopping list. Your DH shops for his and the other half of your shopping list. Both take parents shopping to their homes on the way back, observing same social distancing, dropping shopping at the door and leaving.

Would anyone wear gloves when shopping?Hmm

OP posts:
TheQueef · 25/03/2020 12:27

Yep I would.
I've only got a full military mask and it looks terrifying or id wear that too.

MrsT1405 · 25/03/2020 12:38

Here in Spain only one can go shopping and at the entrance there are gloves given out and you have to wear them after sanitizing you hands and trolley handle. I thought this would be happening in the uk. Far more use than masks.
