What sort of this is he into? My youngest are turning 8 next week. We have no cards and no presents yet. They will also be at school as DH and I are key workers, so for us it is probably easier as I will send some individual packs of sweets into school (because they can be easily sanitised) and know that they will have a good time with their friends doing all sorts of weird and wonderful activities. Their teachers are really trying hard to make sure the kids are entertained, active and don't worry too much.

Does he play on anything like an xbox where he could play a game with some of his friends? Could you arrange with his friends parents to create an adobe connect or a zoom room on a laptop so they can have a sort of party together? Otherwise I would go for trying to make the day as nice as possible and promising to do something when this is all over.

Ds turns 8 very soon, probably still during lock down. I’m going to get him a subscription to Aquila magazine.

ds just had his birthday (albeit 11 rather than 8). The presents I had ordered for him hadn't arrived (and still haven't) but I managed to get a cake from the supermarket that he likes (birthday cake section was pretty full - brings a whole new meaning to 'let them eat cake'!) and a dvd (Detective Pikachu) as well as some pop your own popcorn and a pack of his favourite chocolate bars, a bag of mini marshmallows, a small plastic roblox thing that I would never usually dream of buying and some pens.

We had birthday cake for breakfast - a little silly change that made him so happy - because when else do you get to eat cake for breakfast? (*although if cake is all that is left in the shop that might not be such a novel thing any more Shock) although I appreciate that might not be so easy if you're rushing off to school.
Then in the evening we had a movie night with popcorn, his favourite chocolate, mini marshmellows etc and were pleasantly surprised by the dvd, so while it wasn't anything amazing, it was nice and different from an ordinary day. I also sorted out that he spoke to his two best friends to have a nice chat which he enjoyed.

We have party organisers local who are advertising virtual parties; anything local to you that would work?

It’s dd’s 9th birthday tomorrow. Luckily I was organised with presents and things (not so organised with her sisters in a few weeks!) and managed to get a cake.

We’ve planned most of the day around food! Pancakes for breakfast, ‘party food’ for lunch and a scaled back Bbq for dinner (dp will light the bbq so they can do marshmallows and I’ve got jarred hot dogs and frozen chicken burgers so we can pretend!)

I was thinking of doing a cinema in the afternoon, thanks for the suggestion of detective @wibdib!

Hopefully her presents will keep her occupied and i can scrape together enough decorations to make it special!

Flowers Happy birthday DSs is in June but I’ve a feeling this will still be going on so starting to prepare. I have a large Lego set in the loft and will start ordering other bits from the Internet.

My DS turns 3 a week today. We are supposed to be at Disneyland Paris currently as his birthday present. I've just ordered a slide and trampoline for him though, atleast they will keep him busy through the lockdown! Managed to get a cake and candles with our ASDA delivery this morning too, and have kept last years banners!
Happy birthday to all the other littles who won't be able to have the 'normal' celebrations!

Make a den in the front room and let him sleep in it. Torches, midnight feast etc.
Bonus points if you have a tent of some kind you can erect inside.
Hide presents , chocs or whatever you have round the house so present hunt in the morning.
Tweet his fave celeb- they might have time to tweet back!!
