So this is an obvious opportunity to get fit - where to start?!

Silver linings and all that :). I’m tremendously unfit. Where/how should I start to get fit so that I emerge from this as a - um, what’s the opposite of shadow - of my former self?

Have a garden but no equipment, and have the desire but no aptitude. Thank you :)

I’d start with cutting out all processed food, refined sugar and refined carbohydrate.

If you do it properly you’ll change your life

I'm doing Joe Wicks with the kids. I'm also unfit and see this as the perfect opportunity. I did way more than the kids and can feel it in my muscles. Going to try to stick to it.

I've started Lucy Mountain's home fitness guide - all you need is a mat and some dumbbells.

@Redshoeblueshoe thank you!

I've started the Joe Wicks stuff, and I have found my appetite has actually dropped while at home. As I'm pretty overweight and unfit, I'm determined to make this work (and the silver lining will be me flicking off the ex who always called me nasty things that were weight related).

Sorry for Terminator style fitness advice - I had fallen down the stairs about an hour before so probably wasn't quite in my right mind!

No injuries apart from bruising, but stairs are probably best avoided in the course of any fitness regime.

PenOrPencil · 24/03/2020 19:17

I did some gardening today and can’t move my arms any more, but I’ll give Joe Wicks a try tomorrow and see if the teenagers can be moved to join in, too!

I'm really enjoying Yoga with Adrienne on Youtube. She's quite soothing and she has a lovely doggo who snoozes beside her yoga mat.

BarbedBloom · 24/03/2020 19:53

I am doing daily pilates from a youtube channel. Day 5 and can already notice a difference in how my body feels and how the routine is becoming easier

midwestspring · 24/03/2020 20:25

I am also doing yoga with Adrianne.

What is the Pilates course @BarbedBloom ?

highlandcoo · 24/03/2020 23:39

Adrienne is fab

BinkyandBunty · 24/03/2020 23:50

You don't need to buy anything special. Back to basics!

  • Brisk walks/jogs while you still can. You could add sprint intervals as you get fitter.
  • Online yoga classes - Adriene's 30 day programmes are brilliant.
  • Sets of squats, lunges, push ups, dips, sit ups, planks whenever you have a spare 10 minutes.
Kinsters · 25/03/2020 02:45

The boxing studio I used to go to is doing boxercise classes on their Instagram every other day (@tribebx.co). It's a combination of shadow boxing and functional fitness like sit ups etc. 3mins on 45secs off for 30 minutes.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 25/03/2020 02:48

I’ve gone back to my very neglected, very dusty, wii fit

PenOrPencil · 25/03/2020 10:37

Did PE with Joe at 9, every bloody muscle in my body hurts! Getting fit(ter) will hopefully be the one good thing this stupid pandemic does.
