Where would be good to look for work (not supermarkets)

Will nursing homes etc be looking for care staff?

Anything that provides healthcare or is a supportive role of that.

Delivery drivers - for supermarkets not IN them

Online tutoring.

Why not supermarkets OP? (Just out of interest). Is it a no to convenience stores also, I know they are also hiring.

Delivery drivers, carers, cleaners, any medical role if you have qualifications.

Syncrows · 23/03/2020 10:15

I just really don’t fancy supermarket work and don’t drive. So was thinking about nursing home work.

Absolutely they'll bite your hand off they are struggling to get carers at the moment

Yes care in the community are short staffed at the best of times. They will definitely be recruiting, good luck

DianaT1969 · 23/03/2020 10:21

There are lots of ads for carers posted fresh on Reed today. But it would be better to just call the care centres near you, so you don't have too much travelling.

If you are reasonably rural I saw that the fruit picking season is going to be affected by the lack of iterant workers due to travel restrictions. The farms are launching a big recruitment drive as strawberry season is nearly here.

To anyone else reading this, I just wanted to say that most of the supermarkets are crying out for staff, both shop staff and delivery drivers, so it might be suitable for someone else here even if it's not suitable for the OP. Tesco are practically hiring people on the spot. Literally a five minute phone interview and when can you start.

Apparently it's different with Waitrose as John Lewis are closing so some of their staff are being moved to Waitrose branches, although I'm not 100% sure.

Devlesko · 23/03/2020 11:57

Nursing home work definitely and maybe the safest job atm, nobody else allowed in.
Driving is risky, you have no idea who was in the van before you.
There's only a certain amount anti bac will clean, that's if you can get it. Delivery drivers dropping like flies.
