How can I get the details of Halfords CEO?

My teenage son has worked in the Autocentres for 18 months, he hasn't been told anything regarding the CV policy for workers. I am worried that until they are forced to close he will be working and coming into close contact with customers who bring their cars in for servicing or Mots. His manager is useless and hasn't said anything about protecting themselves. I want to contact the CEO and find out what will happen for protect the staff.

Really? Why not phone up the store and ask - but don’t admit to being his mum. Is he wearing gloves?

AnneJeanne · 22/03/2020 13:20

What are you planning to say to the CEO?

ihatethecold · 22/03/2020 13:21

I know the manager. My son has asked but the manager says he doesn't know and hasn't tried to find out.

I would like to know if they have a policy in place yet regarding working or self isolating, will they be paid or not. will the jobs be protected if they close?

Surely Halfords has a HR department, can your son ask his manger for the HR department.

SeriouslyRetro · 22/03/2020 13:30

I think current advice is self isolate if He’s personally at high risk or has any symptoms.

Generally behave sensibly/distance yourself from others and practice good and thorough hygiene/hand washing etc but continue to work if you aren’t able to work from home.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 13:30

Contact the customer service number on here and explain the situation with your sons manager not knowing and ask if they can put you through to HR or a manager?

dancingdirty · 22/03/2020 14:29

My son works in one of these as well and no advice there either

Gingermidget · 22/03/2020 15:01

My husband works in one of the stores and it’s equally shocking there. Very little communication. They seem to be carrying on as if nothing’s happening.

NoKnit · 22/03/2020 15:31

They'll be forced to shut soon I bet so problem solved.

I guess since you want to call the CEO for him then he'll still have a roof over his head and food in his stomach? So what much is there to worry about. Very minimal contact with people getting cars fixed I think

ihatethecold · 22/03/2020 15:43

NoKnit

Really? Do you have to be a dick?
I have no intention of calling the CEO. Hmm

What’s wrong with wanting to know what a very large company is doing to support their staff.

if your son’s old enough to have a job he’s old enough to sort this out himself

ihatethecold · 22/03/2020 17:57

Charming... people have become such twats on here recently. I didn't ask for your opinion, I asked if anyone knew the CEO's details. Jeez

Prime Susan territory this

OP, try Twitter, that usually gets things going

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 22/03/2020 18:32

Erm, to quote the obvious, if you have no intention of calling the CEO, why exactly are you asking for his details? Confused

ihatethecold · 22/03/2020 21:21

Because I wanted to tweet the CEO.

vikingpooboat · 22/03/2020 23:25

If you find out let me know. Also in the same boat. My manager says we won't be shutting at all but that can't be right? We've had the same guidelines given if In contact with anyone with the virus self isolate. But we have been told we won't be paid

ihatethecold · 23/03/2020 06:01

thanks Viking, Thats interesting. are you in a shop or Autocentre.

My DS is in an Autocentre and now thinks they won't close because Halfords have just put out on SM that they will do free checks for NHS key workers.

do you have a HR email address?

Itstheprinciple · 23/03/2020 06:28

Google Halfords CEO. His name is Graham Stapleton apparently.

coconuttelegraph · 23/03/2020 06:37

If you want to tweet the CEO surely Twitter is the place to ask Confused

In the meantime tell your son to follow the advice we all know as much as he can when at work.

ihatethecold · 23/03/2020 06:41

Thanks.
My son is constantly washing his hands and using hand sanitiser.
He is doing what he can. He said his manager isn’t following protocol himself. He’s being lax about hand hygiene.

The entrance and waiting area is very small so the 2 metre spacing is impossible.

It does worry me that there has been no official communication to staff about their jobs and security atm.

Thanks principle.
