Are you called Jessica? Do you get any choice in people shortening your name?

if you're called Jessica, do you find people shorten it to Jess - even if you don't know them very well, or you prefer the full version?

Random enquiry.

I found myself referring to someone much senior to me as Jess, and I realised quite soon after that she never refers to herself as Jess, so I need to call her Jessica.

And I just wondered if it was a common issue or was it just me?!

(Im isolation bored. Thanks for taking part)

My daughter is Jessica, and everyone even her brothers call her Jess! I'm the only one who calls her Jessica. Hmm

My sister is Jessica. We shorten to jess, or Jessie. She answers to it all

My DGD is Jessica, we always called her Jessybells. She is so loud we now call her decibels.

I have a family member called Jessica - she usually signs herself as Jess but I've known her since she was a little girl and Jessica is such a nice name I don't like to shorten it. I would if she asked me, but she never has, so either she is inwardly seething, or she thinks it's just me.
