Would you go to an outdoor gym?

No equipment, small group, highlighting the need to respect social distancing. In a park or open space.

I'm not being cheeky, Nuff I'm glad you're actually willing to debate it with me rather than the other PPs who seem intent on insisting I'm flouting all the social distancing guidance for the sake of my beach body. I don't have a beach body. I haven't attended the group.
I feel like the group abides by social distancing and so was having trouble seeing why people shouldn't attend, although it felt questionable, and I couldn't get it straight, which is why I posed the question.

@BettyIsMyFavouriteSquirrel has made the best point yet re people getting injured, and the social drive we have to physically help. I hadn't thought of that. The dog walking, alas, is not avoidable.

Although as you pointed out, the parks are being closed so I guess the group will have to cease.

I think you summed it up yourself really...it's the slippery slope.

In an ideal world it would be fine.

We don't live in an ideal world. People will forget. People will not care. People will stray by accident. People will fall and hurt themselves etc. And when you multiply that by hundreds or thousands of groups across the country the risks outweigh the benefits.

Unfortunately, people can't work that out and now we're facing parks being closed and possibly a full lockdown.

@mumsiedarlingrevolta Quite a few also said they thought it was ok. They only posted once each whereas those who don't think it's ok posted several times each, so the thread looks more heavily weighted than it is. Agreed though, more against than for. And the parks are shutting, which is a pretty solid weight for the 'against' vote, too!

MN didn't say no. MN can't speak, because it's not an individual and doesn't have an opinion.

I have been having the same thoughts about finding ways to safely exercise OP

I do not believe the advice is (yet) for everyone to self isolate

But organised group activities of any kind are sadly no longer ok

Good luck with the beach body Eckhart GrinWink

Exercise is an important part of staying healthy and looking after your physical and mental health, so I can understand people assessing the options available

@TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead We've all got a lot more time to spend working on our beach bodies at home, now we're not allowed on the beach!

“I feel like the group abides by social distancing”

How many people might attend? How would people get to/from the class? If driving, where would they park - the same place as others travelling to the outdoor space?

The instructor’s insurance would not be valid - they could be personally sued if anyone was injured.
