I managed to get a Tesco online delivery slot but. notthings available! No fruit, veg or meat. I could cry.
Is anyone in the same position or know if this may change? I keep checking but there's no change on the stock so really don't know what to do.

All empty on mine. Tried To send some to my nan.

@whatdayisitandotherquestions

I am so sorry OP. I’m hoping the government being in tighter measures to prevent people shopping excessively e.g. 4 times a week and buying too much.

Honestly don’t honk online will work. You’ll have to head to the shops. Try out corner shops and more niche shops if you have any near you & try looking into restaurants as well.

Prawnvolauxvent · 22/03/2020 07:10

When you have you your slot for? I wonder if stock will be replenished by the time its due to be delivered? If you have got a slot can you secure it with a certain amount and then edit it hopefully right at the last minute? I have tried sainsburys, Ocado, Waitrose and Tesco this morning. Nothing u til the 9th April and then I can’t check any further than that.

40feetathome · 22/03/2020 07:23

I had one booked for yesterday. Never turned up but is showing as delivered. Know someone else who had the same.

Don't assume that if you've got a delivery it will turn up. I'm self isolating as well which makes it harder.

KittenVsBox · 22/03/2020 07:37

We are in exactly the same position @40feetathome.
Got another week at home.
I've found a fruit and veg wholesalers who us now doing dome home deliveries, so hopefully I gave fruit, veg and bread turning up on Tuesday.
My cupboards are going to be empty by the time I can actually even get to a supermarket next Tuesday. I'm really worried.

MetallicPaints · 22/03/2020 07:53

Look on your local Facebook group, there are lots of places offering grocery orders and deliveries, one of our pubs is doing this.
I have a delivery coming on Weds and the basket keeps changing saying things are unavailable then available again so I guess its pot luck on the day what will come.
Good luck.

IgnoranceIsStrength · 22/03/2020 07:57

Ours showed up yesterday. Booked week in advance and had regularly checked and tried to buy available stock. 2 crates arrived instead of the 8 expected. Quite honestly wasnt worth it at all.

PETRONELLAS · 22/03/2020 08:01

My Tesco order arrived pretty much complete. No peppers but chicken sausages etc. A few more substitutions than usual but sensible ones. Really want to avoid going out.

rosyleigh · 22/03/2020 08:02

Do you have a farm near you with a shop? Veggies are still in the ground and they are still selling them, our local one even does a small selection of dry goods. Try searching online for your local farm shop.

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 22/03/2020 08:15

I guess it depends where it's picked from - my delivery yesterday 16 out of 92 items delivered and only food item was 1 packet of microwave pasta.

I got new dish cloths but no washing up liquid!

NinetySixer · 22/03/2020 09:19

A lot of the restaurant whole salers are offering delivery services or a collect from local restaurant. It means you don’t have to contend with the crowds and they have no shortages.

Have a look at wellocks

Me too. I've had to go multiple times this week because the shelves were so bare. I dont want to do this but having to fit shopping around work (both me and DP are nhs clinical staff) is almost impossible.

I've sent DP to tesco this morning for the 9-10 nhs slot and he said its bedlam, literally queueing round the carpark just to get in.

Partyforone · 22/03/2020 09:46

i found that filling my basket at 3am thursday morning worked, ready for a friday delivery. Whatever you do, don't go back into your order once the shops open, as anything thats selling out in store, will be removed from your basket rather than subsituted. Our order was 90% complete using this method.

ImfinallyaMummy · 22/03/2020 12:11

I've saved my basket and keep checking but in the last 2 days there's Been no change and still nothing available that I need. It's such a worry.

Things will settle down. In Ireland we had some panic buying about a week before you but once lots of people stocked up and realised the shops were being restocked then it calmed down. We got a tesco delivery the other day and very few things were missing.

ShirleyPhallus · 22/03/2020 12:30

The Tesco driver told us our deliveries are loaded on from the warehouse rather than the store. As a result, we have had a few subs but mostly full deliveries.

Pipandmum · 22/03/2020 12:31

I have delivery arriving soon which I booked last week. I find local corner shops have a little bit of everything - got a few tins of tuna off the clearance shelf. Luckily we have a number of local farm shops - one being a dairy farm so they'll never run out of milk at least!

HugoAvril · 22/03/2020 12:38

I have a delivery booked for Tues, everytime I log in it tells me how many items are unavailable. I cannot even make up the 40 minimum. No vegan milks, bread, soap, cat food ( apart from a very expensive one clearly no one can afford), toilet/kitchen roll, lentils, rice, pasta, bleach, etc etc. My current basket has bags of nuts, now thinking high calorie/fat so won't starve. I'm breastfeeding and have half a colon and IBS, nuts usually give me problems. I have 4 children and don't drive. This is so stressful.

Fishcakey · 22/03/2020 14:51

It's worth just keep trying until the cut off to check out. We had a mod of strange subs from Sainsbury's last week and a third of my order didn't arrive but we won't starve and it's better than fighting through the selfish bastards.

middleager · 22/03/2020 14:54

I've had a slot booked for three weeks for tomorrow.
They've removed it complety, no email.

This is why people are going out.
God help the isolated old people if this happens to them.

cassgate · 22/03/2020 15:21

If your order is picked from a warehouse there is no problem. Delivery driver who delivered ours yesterday said warehouse is full with deliveries coming in all the time but they don’t have enough pickers so are recruiting. Problem seems to be if orders are picked from store.

carlywurly · 22/03/2020 15:57

Had to go out to drop dp to work earlier and called into Tesco - it was both deserted and well stocked. I was pleasantly surprised and was in and out in a few minutes.

I only needed a diy item but could have got toilet roll, milk, bread etc if I'd needed it plus plenty of fresh veg. I think first thing is by far the busiest time round here. It's ok the rest of the day.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 22/03/2020 15:58

Just checked mine for this coming Friday and probably 1/3 was unavailable but when I checked the other items on the same virtual shelf, there were alternatives.

We won't starve if it doesn't arrive but we will be eating a variety of random food items as we're self-isolating until a week on Wednesday.
