Best toy you’ve ever bought for your garden?

My garden isn’t enormous, but looking to put some fun stuff in there for my young kids.

Best thing you ever got? (Don’t think we’ve got the space for a trampoline!)

We've got a hammock which gets a lot of play

Throughabushbackwards · 21/03/2020 17:50

Playhouse with a slide. They spend hours in, on and under it.

Office365 · 21/03/2020 17:51

A swing set. A proper wooden double one.

PathOfLeastResitance · 21/03/2020 17:52

Swing ball.

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 21/03/2020 17:53

Sandpit, slide, ride on toys, chalk, football,

Tonz · 21/03/2020 17:54

A mud kitchen.. Hours of fun

Shylo · 21/03/2020 17:54

Trampoline, altho I note you don’t have space, followed by the swing

Shylo · 21/03/2020 17:54

Don’t bother with a wooden playhouse, it just turns into a toy she’s because everyone is too scared of the spiders lol

Lightsunbeam · 21/03/2020 18:45

Ooh great ideas here! Thank you! Am looking them all up...

Keep em coming! Going to need all the outdoor child entertainment ideas I can get over the next while!

A little cherry tree which has filled out beautifully and is full of blossom just now.

Phillipa12 · 21/03/2020 18:53

Swing ball and little tykes giant waffle blocks.

LittleSweet · 21/03/2020 19:01

The swing and padding pool for ds1.
The trampoline, play house and bbq for ds2.
The mini table with deckchairs and parasol was so popular I had to set it up indoors. They also had a little swing seat they liked.

My own child is still a baby but my brother and I had a climbing frame which was dome shaped and you could sit on top of. We were still sitting on it when we got older and were too old to play on it.

Phalarope · 21/03/2020 19:49

Hideous Little Tikes plastic rocking horse. Still played with at age 6 - used as goal post, for climbing on, balancing, getting buckets and cloths and playing grooming it. Cheap and (comparatively) small - it’s been a really good buy.

Trampoline with a net can fit in a small space...ours doesn't owe us a penny!
Otherwise swing ball or our made up game of 'Big Tennis' using the swing ball bats and an inflatable beach ball .... good times 😂

Shelby1981 · 21/03/2020 20:06

Mud kitchen! You can use sand in it if you want less mess (plus water, weeds, pine cones, stones....)

Tiramumsu · 21/03/2020 20:12

We had something similar to this when the DC were younger. It was a sturdy climbing frame but they would also cover it with sheets to make a den. They also loved paint brushes and a bucket of water so they could paint the garden.

Small plastic playhouse. Was used loads still last summer (by 5 & 7 year old), and useful for storing small plastic table and chairs in. And the slide (age 3 -5 sized one).

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 21/03/2020 20:22

The trampoline, bubble machine and paddling pool, in that order. We got a trampoline 2 years ago, paid just under a grand for a really good one sunk into the ground. Best money ever spent IMO.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 21/03/2020 20:29

Bubble machine

AbsolCatly · 21/03/2020 20:33

A 6x4 shed, doubles as play house and toy storage, also like sand/water table, swing ball, chalk (add a blackboard to shed), bubbles, stilts and watering cans

raffaroo · 21/03/2020 20:43

Sandpit for the toddler and trampoline for the older one. Both well worth the money.

augustusglupe · 21/03/2020 20:50

Another vote for swingball

Lightsunbeam · 22/03/2020 08:28

Ooh brill suggestions! Sounds like swing ball is a good one.

That climbing frame looks great!

And the idea of a bubble machine and sand pit... I’m looking forward to making our garden fun!

Not sure how old your kids are but our 3yr old twins love their Little Tikes Spacehopper. We let them play with it indoors, they got it for Christmas and have played with it every single day since Dec 25th. Lovely weather today and they took it outside, it's even better outside, less to crash into.
