I visited a mid size supermarket in a student area, stock was fairly low but very few empty shelves and it was nearly lunchtime, it wasn’t manic busy either.
So if you live in a uni town/ city try the student area shops, I believe lots of the students have gone home, or maybe they just cant be arsed panic buying!

I went to the baker, green grocer, big tesco, three co ops. Got a normal weeks shopping. Mother’s Day card and flowers. Roads were quiet so didn’t actually take that long. Only thing I couldn’t get was a seeded loaf of bread, and a bag or sugar!

We've noticed the smaller supermarkets without easy parking outside them have reasonable stocks of nearly all items. People are less likely to bulk buy if they have to carry it

I just went to our outdoor market where hand wash was 2 for £1, fruit and veg piled high, eggs, fish and meat laid out as much as you want. My butcher has been in everyday at 5am prepping stock. He takes orders and his friendly staff serve with a smile.

@barberousbarbara I don't know why they didn't just take away the shopping trolleys and make everyone carry baskets in the first place. like you say, people less likely to bulk buy if they have to carry it.
