Can royal Worcester porcelain go in the dishwasher?

We've inherited some royal Worcester plates. They predate the dishwasher. Can they go in or should I save them for 'best' and handwash only?

Gold trimmed ? That will eventually wear off . But I am a firm believer of using the good things and enjoying them . So if they wear out ...meh . At least they have bought joy .

What pattern are they, the name could be on the base.

Evesham. No gold trim.

I'm not so bothered about wearing them out as shattering them. I believe things are to be used but I'll be damned if I'm handwashing!

I put ours in the dishwasher no probs. I doubt they would shatter, I think the pattern wearing away would be the bigger risk.

Can you put one plate in a wash just to see?

@feelinguseless101
Start using them every day and put those ' puppies ' in the dishwasher and enjoy them! My DM has 3 full sets of different lovely porcelain China and none of it has ever been used...they are at least 50 years old! We're all waiting for the Queen to visit so they can be dusted off and lovingly hand washed afterwards....lol, as my mum has gotten wise and started using the 'good' paper plates for holidays and such, so she might even use the good paper for the Queen, too 😂🍽👸🏻

I put mine in the dishwasher. The detergents are a lot more gentle on the china than they used to be.

My gold rims are still perfect

Great. I'll give one a try but get using them.

I like that they are a bit smaller than our IKEA plates
