Totally confused about children and social distancing

Don't know about the rest of the UK but in Wales the schools are shutting today - but private nurseries and child care are open to children of ALL workers - so the before and after school clubs are open (even when the schools will be shut) day care at our local children's centre - is open, presumably the holiday club / childcare will run as normal. Our local after school provider is looking into taking children all day in what would have been term time, whatever job the parents do.

Yet the UK Gov website says this:
'Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults'

How is this consistent? Can my kids go to where other kids are or not?

Your local after school provider is ignoring the government guidelines and will be putting hundreds of people at risk. It's disgraceful, as are the people who are taking advantage of it. We are only going to be able to preserve the NHS if we keep the infection rate slow and low. That means social distancing, even if its inconvenient.

But they aren't. They say the Welsh Government advice is that childcare providers to stay open. I believe them. Because my youngest goes to an LA childcare centre - the nursery is closing today ( as it is registered as a school) but the wrap around daycare he gets is still open!

Some one just posted that the Government (not sure if Welsh or UK) says children can still go swimming as the chlorine kills CV, but they will still be mixing before and after and so are their parents who have taken them to the lesson, and who will not be in teh pool.

I just think it is really confused.
