I've been trying to decorate most of my house for two years.
Last spring 2019 we got as far as stripping all our upstairs wallpaper, giving away all our upstairs furniture (not our bed), and getting rid of carpets then our roof caved in and everything halted while it was fixed.
Come Autumn and we were ready to start again but then our plasterer broke his leg so everything was halted again.
Then it started to creep into late Autumn and I didn't want a Winter or Christmas with massive disruption and no heating so we postponed until 2020.
In early 2020, we stripped all the wallpaper from the rest of the house, gave away the rest of our furniture in preparation for work starting and booked tradesmen in from late March until the end of September.
Then a fucking global pandemic hit.
We've got a plumber coming in two weeks to take off all our radiators and a plasterer coming in mid-April to plaster everywhere. Then everyone/everything else (decorator, wallpaper, joiner, plumbers, new radiators, carpet people, curtain people, new furniture) follows from there.
I've got a terrible feeling that we're not going to get it done this year AGAIN. Fuck my life. I've been sleeping on a mattress on floorboards for a year and sitting on deck chairs eating tea off my lap since February this year. I've got a terrible feeling this is going to become my new normal.
