I've just lost my job this morning.
Was expecting it with everything going on and Dd1 who is a nurse is in isolation.
Since Monday 13 of my friends have lost there jobs also.

We still have out health and I'm grateful for that but I've been so upbeat and positive in front of everyone that today I've just needed a little cry

Oh bless you - so sorry :( It's just awful at the moment Flowers

If it's any help, I've seen posts on FB this morning saying that Tesco and Aldi are recruiting, so that might work as a stopgap.

Flowers

I had a little cry yesterday evening when dd2 told me that she had just cancelled her 21st birthday party which should have been in three weeks' time.

isseywith4vampirecats · 19/03/2020 13:23

sending you a big hug theres going to be a lot of people in the same situation im just waiting for our company to say they are closing as its hospitality

Snog · 19/03/2020 13:27

Hugs from me OP
I am v angry that the government is not stepping in quickly to compensate workers in affected businesses.

There is much kindness out there and I hope some of it finds its way to you Thanks

Horsemad · 19/03/2020 13:28

Sorry OP. Flowers

Really sorry to hear that, Morrison’s are starting a massive recruitment drive too.

notacooldad · 19/03/2020 13:32

We are closing our business.
Things had been pretty tight for most of this year but we haven't had an order for the last 3 weeks.
We are a pretty niche company in our area but we would be the first for people to stop spending on.
I still have a job elsewhere but not not earning enough to cover all the expenses. DH has finished two people. It has been really horrible already and we all know it isn't going to get better soon.
However we will get by somehow. I am worried about families with young children and babies as well as the old and sick. I am worried about people with poor mental health as well as people who have SEN and can't cope with change of routine. We are facing difficult times.

Lynda07 · 19/03/2020 13:34

So sorry, notacooldad, that's dreadful.

Spied · 19/03/2020 13:55

Never mind a little cry... I'd like to join you all in an absolute bawl.

Spied · 19/03/2020 13:58

After suffering MH problems I've finally felt strong enough to work again and I've not long started a job I love.
I will need to leave in order to look after my DC now the schools have closed.

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 19/03/2020 16:22

😪sorry to hear this . Hope something turns up quickly .You are being so brave , it's ok not to be ok about it all Flowers

Londonborncatty · 19/03/2020 16:24

Have a cry, it’s fine to be upset and worried. I really hope things pick up for you and you manage to find alternative employment x

Luunaa · 19/03/2020 16:26

I'm so sorry for you. These are terrible times.

fluffiphlox · 19/03/2020 16:29

The situation is scary but I gather the supermarkets and the likes of Amazon are looking for people. Could something like that tide you over?

MrsWeebles · 19/03/2020 16:30

Sending virtual hugs
and a hankie to cry in to all so badly affected.,

willowpatterns · 19/03/2020 16:31

My local Tesco has a large A-frame notice in the main entrance asking for temporary staff. All the supermarkets will probably be the same.

Beseen19 · 20/03/2020 07:51

My DH has lost his job. I'm a nurse so we will have income but have a 1 month old at home so terrified of bringing the virus home to him (even though I know kids aren't usually badly affected). Sad I have to go back to work so soon but we sold our flat and havent bought a house yet so until we use all our deposit we wont get any support.

fluffiphlox · 20/03/2020 14:27

Asda has announced 5000 temporary jobs today. A stop-gap?

Needallthesleep · 20/03/2020 14:33

This is awful, I’m so so sorry.

My company made huge redundancies yesterday. I’m sure I won’t be in a job soon. The idiots who think it’s ok to keep socialising are making this worse. We need it to be contained and over quickly.

Notonmyshift · 20/03/2020 20:16

I'm back on the payroll as of government announcement tonight.
I cried again.
On the plus side DD1 is feeling better
