NOT Corona related: when should I start to worry?

Six year old has been vomiting since Tuesday. Can’t keep anything down apart from the tiniest sips of water. It’s been over 48 hours now and there’s no sign of the vomiting stopping. But also there’s no temperature or rash either. 111 online says to contact GP but obviously that’s a bit of a useless suggestion right now since our surgery is closed to walk ins.

I’ve got two other children and they both had a vomiting big last week but were over it within 12 hours. I’m trying not to panic. But, I’m starting to panic! Am I being silly? Need someone to talk me down. I’ve had very little sleep for 48 hours and feel like I’m in some weird vom limbo.

with tummy bugs the old way works the best and has never failed me. 24 hr starve from the last time they vomited and sips of cooled, boiled water only (with rehydration sachets if you have them, or the tip of a teaspoon of salt, and half a teaspoon sugar and a tiny splash of squash if not)

Keep up the small sips of water. Is he dehydrated? Is the inside of his lip drier than normal? Pinch the skin on the back of his hand: does it spring back into place at the normal speed? Both are signs of dehydration.
All you need to do is keep him hydrated for now. Don’t feed him until 12-24 hours after vomiting stops. Just clear fluids until then. Ice pops (sucked, not crunched!) can help get fluid into him slowly if he can tolerate them.

Thank you. I think we’re slowly coming out the other side. It’s been such a long 48 hours of grimness I was really starting to panic that it was something serious. Now for me to catch up on sleep! At least there’s no school run in the morning
