Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe temporarily released from jail

For two weeks, with an ankle tag, to stay within 300m of her parents' house.

Is it too much to hope that our FCO might be able to negotiate for her to be returned home? I remember reading that she considered refusing another temporary "release", as the effect on her mental health from being returned to prison the last time was devastating.

The prison where she is being held is a horrifying theatre of torture and death. I am ashamed of our incompetent government and particularly our Prime Minister who have done nothing to help Nazanin and actually a good deal to make her situation worse.

They obviously don't want her to die in prison, if anything happens now it's not their fault - as far as they are concerned.

I’m so happy to hear this. It’s obviously only temporary, but I imagine it’s a great relief to her.

The poor women. I hope she can spend that time getting physically and mentally stronger and of course Skyping lots with her DH & DD.

I hope she gets home to the UK to be with her family

I’d be in favour of a team of highly trained operatives snatching her back.

I’m with plunk.

Greatful for small mercies. Hopfully she can Skype her family in uk.

I saw the report on the news earlier this evening, a picture of her sitting on a sofa in her parents' house, looking happy, with the tag round her ankle. I too hope very much that Iran will take the opportunity to release her.

Our Prime Minister didn’t do nothing... and that’s why she’s still bloody stuck there

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 17/03/2020 21:18

That sounds good! A small step in the right direction.

Exhaustive efforts have been made by our govt. to secure Nazanin's release. The Iranian regime is an evil one and they are holding her (and many other dual nationals) hostage for money.

I hope they all return home soon.
