The world is gone to shit.

But happy St. Patrick's Day to all, both sitting it out at home, and here in the UK. I hope we will be able to celebrate properly soon.

Another happy st Patrick's day from Liverpool!

I'm in work today but will raise a glass when I get back home tonight 🍀

DroppedBoxxedRuth · 17/03/2020 07:06

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Stormbeach · 17/03/2020 07:13

Agus leat féin as Corcaigh! Let us recall the shivering mini-hurlers, the blue-legged Irish dancers, and some old codger in a cardboard mitre and cottonwool beard waving from the back of a lorry. I mean, the trad small town parades before Macnas and Nigerian Irish people completely misunderstood and started making parades kind of cool and aesthetically pleasing, rather than endurance affairs in the sleet where at least one Scout got hypothermia annually. Happy St Patrick’s day! It’s also my daughter’s birthday, and my dad never forgave me for not calling her PatriciaGrin

WhatWouldJohnSay · 17/03/2020 07:16

Happy St Patrick's day from Dublin 😁
RTÉ are doing a virtual parade, it won't be rainy and packed with tourists but I bet my kids will moan none the less 🙄

MuddyPuddlesAndPrettyBubbles · 17/03/2020 07:20

Stormbeach 😂 so true. How dare people come in and improve things, making them stylish and interesting?

Anyone going to Mass today? St Patrick's of my youth meant a new green outfit, matching with my sister, and off to Mass. We know how to live.

GinnyStrupac · 17/03/2020 07:20

Right back at you OP and all pps!

Stormbeach · 17/03/2020 07:26

Anyone up for a chorus of the world’s most dismal hymn, ‘Dóchas Linn Naomh Pádraig’? Which I’m still word perfect in, despite the fact I think I last sang it in about 1988.

Not sure any masses are happening around here?

GreenFlamingo11 · 17/03/2020 07:30

Happy Paddy's Day from Dublin! ☘️
I normally love watching the parades on RTE, it'll be interesting to see what the virtual parade will be like.

pussycatinboots · 17/03/2020 07:32

Happy St Patricks day.
I still have some Guinness left from Cheltenham, so today might be the appropriate day to drink it Grin

ceilihouse · 17/03/2020 07:40

Happy St Patrick's Day! Being part Irish abroad meant going to school once a year with one of those little ribbon and harp badges stuck to my clothes and that was it. I haven't even seen the shit parades, never mind the good ones!

SweetBabyJebus · 17/03/2020 07:46

La Fheile Phadraig everyone.

The local gaelscoil here is trying to organise a flash mob sing-song of Óro Sé do Bheatha Bhaile from the doorsteps at noon today! I’ll report back.

IndoorWeather · 17/03/2020 11:21

Honestly, @ILik, a few days more of families being boxed in together, and it will be a flashmob of 'Weela, Weela Wallya' (the one about infanticide that no one thought it was weird to teach us when we were children).

BillywigSting · 17/03/2020 11:56

Is that the one about the woman in the woods with the pen knife?

2littleguineas · 17/03/2020 12:04

Happy St. Patrick's Day every one. It's a different one for sure but there's a relief in knowing our government have taking action before today. I can't imagine the fallout from today alone if they hadn't.

ILikTheBred · 17/03/2020 12:13

Not much evidence of the sing-song sadly. To be fair we’re a few streets away from the school itself but lock-down Italy it wasn’t.

Maybe in a few days @IndoorWeather...and yyy to Weelya Weelya Walla (scary how I remember every word yet only just copped the baby gets killed Smile)

IndoorWeather · 17/03/2020 12:56

It is, @BillywigSting.
