Do men prefer women not to be tall even if they're 5'9" plus themselves?

I am 5'11" and have received lots of the usual comments aswell as it's difficult to attract a man when you're so tall comments too.

I think we all have preferences but once that attraction is there it doesn’t matter

I’m 5’2 always been fine being small and have always attracted tall men. I was surprised when online dating I didn’t attract shorter men as I didn’t mention height

Most men im sure prefer long slim legs as most women like broad shoulders but once you really like someone it just doesn’t matter

Some men really don’t like very confident women and I think if you are taller and confident some men will find it intimidating- but who wants to be with a man like that

I sometimes wonder about this. I have two tall for their age 7 year old girls who I think will both be near to 6 foot as grown women. I hope they never feel insecure being tall.

My oldest niece is 6'2", and apart from being very striking indeed, has a basilisk glare that forbids impertinence.

I’m the same height op and love it. Never had a problem with dating (although happily married for 10 yrs to 6’3 DH). I’ve had shorter boyfriends but about 5’8” was my cut off.

I’ve always stood tall and I remember people have commented on my good posture (I think they thought I should hunch to make myself shorter?!).

I can see the benefits of being shorter - more choice in men, easier clothes shopping but I feel I’m the height I’m meant to be IYSWIM. Plus I can eat quite a lot and not put on weight 😆

TrainspottingWelsh · 16/03/2020 21:43

Never had that problem. I've never been attracted to men significantly shorter than me, but they have expressed interest in me. And I'm not a stunning model overcoming their natural inclination for smaller women with my jaw dropping beauty by any means.

Dp is only an inch taller than me, and we knew each other before we had a relationship, but the night it started I was wearing heels that made me 6'3. I don't generally wear heels but even when I do he still looks bigger iyswim.

LemonGingerCakes · 16/03/2020 23:44

Please don't slag off short women.

Please don’t slag off short men either.

Eckhart · 16/03/2020 23:56

I have never had an issue with my height or other people's heights. Short Women always mention it. Must be awful being short

Oxymoronic.

Must be awful feeling the need to make such preposterous generalisations.

DH is 6'5 and all his girlfriends have been on the shorter side as he feels he's too tall (he does bump his head on stuff a lot) and didn't want his children to be taller than him.
However, DS1 is 13 and has just hit 6'1, so I think it was slightly misjudged. DD though is quite little.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 17/03/2020 09:25

IME short men like tall women and talk men like short ones. I am 5'11 and like tall menAngry

Wolfgirrl · 17/03/2020 09:37

5'4 isnt short though? 5'3 is average in UK so you're actually an inch taller than average @amusedbush Grin

I would only say women under 5'2ish and men under 5'7ish are actually short.
