Do you have Facebook portal on tv?

We're thinking of getting on for 85yo MIL as she lives on her own and were concerned about her feeling isolated if we can't visit due to coronavirus.

It promises simplicity and I like that you can answer using Alexa but I have questions.

When we call her, what happens if she's watching tv? Will it switch automatically? What if she's not watching tv? Does she have to turn the tv on? Would it switch on in the right mode?

After the call, would the tv default back to what she was watching or would she have to choose the right source?

Any thoughts?

I don't have one but been researching this. You can't 'drop in' as in she has to answer, if you want this feature you have to get an Echo dot I think.

If you want it to not interrupt her TV you can get the portal plus which is a separate tablet. I think the set up for portal is not super straightforward (there is a youtube video for it), so I would have guessed she has to know how to change to the right 'mode' to access it. Perhaps get her the stand alone unit, which is cheaper

We got an Echo Show in the end. We'll see how it goes.
