PSA: Czech Republic has barred all British citizens for next 30 days

Just a PSA in case anyone else was hoping to go on holiday in the next month only to find out that it now won't be happening!

Jet2 are refunding all customers, whereas EasyJet are saying that they will only refund taxes - so about £25, even if the flights were (say) £300.

Pretty shite of them to be profiteering out of this and it has put me off flying EasyJet in future.

EasyJet refunded customers for the Italy flight cancellations. Hoping they change and do the same here.
Were you due to go?

Easyjet aren't showing themselves in a good light at all at the moment. So they appear to be running empty flights and keeping people's money because while a flight still exists, people can't travel because they can't enter the country they have booked to go to or it is under FCO advice not to travel?

As well as not playing fair over coronavirus, they're effectively holding the citizens of the Isle of Man hostage by charging ridiculous fares after the collapse of Flybe, who ran 80% of flights between the Isle of Man and Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham.

Easyjet currently run the few remaining flights, which of course they can sell for any price they like such as £600-700 return for a half hour flight that normally costs about £100 return, if that. Even worse that these flights are used by seriously ill people to access medical treatment in the UK that is not available on the Island.

PathOfLeastResitance · 13/03/2020 10:02

The FCO has not put it on ‘the list’ so maybe that’s how they are getting away with it?
How does it work if you paid on a credit card?

turkeyontheplate · 13/03/2020 10:03

That doesn't apply to people who are already there, does it? My brother is in Prague.

GenderApostate19 · 13/03/2020 10:10

Supposed to be going to Prague in 12 weeks, won’t be happy if Easyjet won’t refund if the situation extends, although I imagine Travel ins may cover it?

WhereAreAllTheLooRolls · 14/03/2020 11:28

Fortunately for customers, yesterday the FCO did put the Czech Republic 'on the list' in that they advised against all but essential travel there.

Unfortunately, easyJet appear to be unwilling to provide refunds, which to my understanding they legally have to do now, due to the FCO decision? So many disgruntled passengers on Twitter.

(This may get moved to the CV topic)
