I don't know how to do links but an example is the Perch & Parrow Parker 3 seater. I love the look of this but don't want leather and don't know how to do a more general search!

Banquette sofa?

We have an Ikea Farlov sofa that has a single mattress like bottom cushion. It’s the comfiest ever.

And thanks queen, I'm hoping they are comfortable. We have a three seater and no one ever wants to sit in the middle - even the dogs!

Chesterfield?

Bench seat?

TopShelf · 11/03/2020 11:53

Sofabeds usually have one long cushion afaik.

dudsville · 11/03/2020 12:06

Ah, I've got a sofa bed with two cushions, and "chesterfield" sometimes have two cushions. Bench and banquette work as search terms - thanks everyone, I'm going back to my search!!!!

I prefer sofas without cushion bases - i think they might be called picket sorung bases - dont have to keep plumping the cushions up! Had my tetrad for 12+ years.

bilbodog · 11/03/2020 13:05

Pocket sprung!

dudsville · 11/03/2020 13:10

I didn't know pocket sprung or no cushion was possible but I think the sofa i refer to in my op must be this. How exciting, I'm off to google again!!!

I see what you mean by sofa bed and futon upthread, my notions of these words are clearly outdated. And "pocket sprung sofa" doesn't lead me to the single base sofa. I'll continue the search!

Don't know if that type of sofa has a special name but Sofa.com have a few in that style.

I had one made as I couldn't find the right one. I went to a independent sofa factory shop and showed them a Pinterest picture. They literally designed it on the back of an envelope.
It's L shaped and is 10 feet by 6 feet and all the cushions are long & continuous. It makes EXCELLENT DENS.

It was £1,800 to have made, upholstered and delivered - make in the U.K. too which was important.

@AgathaMystery love how you have your priorities right with the emphasis on excellent den potential Smile

Sofa workshop do a sofa called 'Eden' that has a bottom cushion like this.

I don't think there's a name for that type of cushion, though.

RiftGibbon · 12/03/2020 23:02

I have a really old two seater sofa like this. It came from Allders about 20 years ago. Can't post a photo unfortunately as phone camera playing up.

RiftGibbon · 13/03/2020 10:21

My sofa is a bit like this, which I think is what you mean by the 'continuous bottom cushion'.
