5G ready phone - should I bother?

Don't know where else to post this but my phone contract is up soon. Is there any point getting a 5G ready phone yet when 5G isn't in my area (South East) and doesn't appear to be any time soon. I half think by the time we get it in our area the contract will be up on the phone and I would've paid for something I can't yet use. I can't find anything online either about when my area might get 5G. Does anyone know if there is a UK wide rollout. Or when we're all expected to be able to connect to it by?

They’ll be really expensive at first. But if you’re one of those people who likes to have top of the range phones, and if your existing phone is still working well for you, then I personally would switch to a cheap monthly contract on your existing phone for six months or whenever until the 5G roll out in your area.

You’ll save a bunch of money over those six months, (maybe a hundred quid or so) and you’ll have more choice and cheaper deals on a 5G phone when you do get it.

Getting a 5G phone now when you can’t use the additional ooomph would be a waste of money, and getting a non-5G phone now would really annoy you over the next 2 years.

Thanks for this. My phone is annoyingly on its way out I think. Only little glitches but somehow I think it will get to the magic 24 months and break entirely it might not of course then I'll keep it as I do like it.

Oh that’s a pain. Nothing more annoying than wanting a phone that will be out in a couple of months and then your existing one dying. I’m waiting for the iPhone 12 which will be 5G so am desperately hoping for my faithful old 6 to carry on working until then.

There isnt any 5G yet - this is what the Huawei talk is about. When it does come out it will only be in certain areas. Just get another 4G phone .
