Bored of life....

I think I'm having some kind of quarter life/mid life crisis!

I feel bored of life and miserable half the time.

I don't enjoy my job and kind of want to do something else but I dont know what. When I look into other jobs in other areas I get really disheartened by the inevitable salary drop.

I cant afford to drop my salary too much, and I'm also TTC so realistically need to either move now or put up and shut up, but god knows how long it will take to conceive as I have underlying hormonal issues (PCOS).

Anyone else or am I just a miserable git?

I could have written the first half of your post! Bored, disillusioned and cynical about my job, and I do think it has a huge impact on the rest of my life and how I feel generally.

I am also disheartened by the potential salary drop/feeling of going backwards if I change roles, and suspect I would still be bored if I did anyway.

I'm also at a point in my life where everyone else is having kids, but I don't want them. I need something else in my life, but not sure what it is...

No advice I'm afraid but I symthathise!

Throw yourself into a project...
Interior design a room
Do a fitness challenge
Book a day out - spa, afternoon tea or whatever you're into.
Plan something nice each day even if it's just a bath, a favourite meal, a catch up with a friend. Appreciate the small things. Plan something nice for some one else.

I disliked my job for a long time but it's well paid. I've made peace with it now and just see it as a job to pay for my leisure time and make sure I enjoy it which I couldn't do with a career change and wage drop.

Can you do a qualification? Open university or something like that? Something to make your brain work. I did an a level at night school, didn't help my career at all but was really interesting

Book a spa day. Christ alive.

@Stuckinarut88 @queenparsnip

Glad it's not just me. Those are great ideas - I need something that challenges me, I could do my job with my eyes shut so need to stretch my brain a bit I think.

@postitnot maybe a course in the evening would help! We have a few colleges locally so I might look into what they do. I've already got a degree and a couple of post grad qualifications but it was a while ago that I did them and sometimes I can feel myself losing brain cells as the days go on 😂🤦‍♀️
