I can use this marinade as a sauce can't I?

I've had chicken marinading since this morning and had planned to cook the left over marinade down to a sauce and use with the children and rice. (chicken cooks in the oven). DH has just told me that I can't do this as because it's been with raw meat you can't use is as a sauce. I think he's talking out of his arse as it'll be cooked anyway.

So, am I about to commit a culinary crime or is he talking crap?

If it's cooked to a boil, it'll be fine.

I wouldn't serve with children, though. They aren't very tasty.

😂 yes, they can be a bit tough.

Sauce will be fine, children are an unnecessary ingredient. Tough and ermmm illegal

It might be safe but I'm not sure it will be very nice. Isn't marinade mainly oil and something acidic like lemon or lime juice. I can't imagine that ever making a palatable cooked sauce, sorry.

Of course you can, what is he proposing you do, wash it off?

HarrySnotter · 08/03/2020 17:19

Will let you know if it's rank! 😂

It's got soy sauce, orange juice, garlic, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, sugar and ginger in it - fingers crossed it's not revolting.

Yes, as long as it’s cooked very well

Just had it. Cooked the marinade for a good half hour and gave it a good boil at the end of cooking. It was bloody lovely!
