Does anyone know anything about toenails (disgusting picture alert!)

I haven't cut my toenails for a few months as I couldn't reach them after an operation. The top part of my toe nail peeled away and underneath is a yellow brown colour. My other big toenail is the same but doesn't smell and isn't quite so yellow .

What is causing them to be layered like this? I asked the GP who said the layering is due to trauma (DC stamping on foot, operation etc)

What can I do? Is it some kind of infection?

No, doesn't hurt at all.

Also hadn't grown (the varnish is from September )

Is the black bit varnish? I thought it was the nail.

The nail varnish is blue/green and on the bottom half of the nail. Then there's the white patch where the nail has torn off and the corner by the end of the nail is a dark brown

I would remove the varnish then seek advice from a dr or pharmacist, it could be a nail infection or a fungal infection.

Looks fungal to me OP. I would remove all the varnish and as pp has said get to the chemist.
