Cupid is having a laugh with me today. 3 wedding invitations in the one whump.

TBH, the 'festive' season floored me this year and Tinder/apps were just killing me, so I've taken a break from them. I'm always amazed by the success stories though!

Just turned 30 a couple of months before. Both tricked into a blind date by mutual friends who thought we would suit each other. Both of us had turned down the matchmaking initially, hence them having to trick us into it.
Married within 2 years, now been married for 17 years!

I was 33 and a virgin (kissed a few frogs).

I'd lost my confidence in everything through my twenties so accepted staying single but a colleague persuaded me to try OLD when I was moaning about it. (He had met his wife on it)

10 years on, we are married and have 2 DC!

I met dh via online dating at 32, and now been married 5 years. I wasn’t having any luck with meeting someone and like you kept getting invitations to other people’s weddings, so decided to try online dating. I think online dating requires quite a thick skin, and I met a few interesting folk, including “Mr not sure why I’m doing online dating as I spend every free moment running, but want someone to drop everything when I’m free” and “Mr I’m always right about everything”. That one only lasted one date, where it took all my willpower not to shove him into the river we were walking along! I’m glad I persisted though and met dh shortly after.

Met him aged 36 through church.

Married aged 37.

First child at 38.

Second child at 39.

I thought I’d left it far too late, but he’s SO worth the wait

By the way, I know maybe 30 couples who met in their 30s through OLD. Don’t give up!

We were both 35 when we met through a mutual friend and I was still 35 when we got married

Can I ask which OLD websites people found their DPs on? I have tried Tinder and OKCupid but feel I mostly just get messages by men looking for sex than wanting to take things slow and see if a relationship forms.

@BillysMyBunny I found the less serious ones were the best because when you go on a date you kind of expect the worst. When I paid for match.com the dates felt like interviews. Having said that you do have to sift through the f**kboys and go on a few dates with frogs. My theory at the time was "well I'm a nice decent person so there must be nice decent men too".
