Went to A&E with chest pains. Have had to wait hours but really appreciate all that has been done. Final test was an X-ray and then I thought I could go home. suddenly everything’s changed. Have offered my son (who I had to bring with me) food and juice. My DR is nowhere to be seen. I’m honestly terrified here - what’s happening? Help

You're being very brave here op, handhold from me here too 👍

SeaToSki · 07/03/2020 21:03

Do you have something to write on, it might be helpful to take notes when the doctor comes back. Its amazing how much you forget when you are stressed. You can also ask the doctor to write down anything you cant spell.

Rainbowqueeen · 07/03/2020 21:09

Handholding here too

Great that they are being thorough
Still scary though. Wishing you all the best

Possibly a PE ( pulmonary embolus)? Would explain the breathlessness and need for CT...hope you get answers soon - if it is PE it is eminently treatable

Shift change I think. My dr came to say she was going home. Hoping this means they’re dealing with more urgent cases first? That’s one take eh?

Am feeling a bit better - the pain is still there but not as pressing/ sharp.

Really want to take my little boy home though...

Handhold from me too Op. Hope everything is ok. Thanks

Haggisfish · 07/03/2020 22:19

Oh I hope you’re ok too.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/03/2020 22:21

Have they not told you what they’re looking for?

I’ve had this before, suspect blood clot on the lung but it ended up just being a chest infection. Fingers crossed it ends up being something as minor as that Flowers

Beach11 · 07/03/2020 22:23

Good luck op

Wishforsnow · 07/03/2020 22:25

Good luck op, sorry the NHS are being so slow and not communicating with you. Hope you and your son are ok

EnidBlyton · 07/03/2020 22:26

was the ecg ok?

bananafish · 08/03/2020 08:42

Thank you for all your messages😊 I ended up being admitted as despite lots of fluids (ouch those canulas hurt) my heart rate just wouldn’t come down to normal levels.

E was very brave but it all got to much for him at 4 am being asked to sleep in a hospital bed on a ward after 21 hours of A&E, but he rallied and slept in the end.

I’ve now had first round of obs - am really hoping I might get to leave under charge of GP. ecg was normal and ct scan showed up a couple of things but they said they would write?

Thank you all for being so supportive - it really helped last night.

Well I'm glad you are being looked after, at least the doctors are trying to get to the bottom of it. Thanks
