Anyone taken terbinafine? How long before it starts to work? (Content a bit gross)

I have a fungal infection in 3 nails. One of these is quite bad, it's like thick white stuff under the big toenail bed pushing the nail away.
I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. So, went to GP (had an appointment for something else so asked them about this while I was there).
They prescribed me terbinafine. I have a 3 month supply.
Been taking them now for a week and a half and there doesnt appear to be any difference at all. I understand you have to take them for a while for the "new nail" to come through but I wondered how long it took to start getting rid of the fungus that's there?

It won’t disappear it has to grow out so will take months. You just have to trim the nail regularly. As the nail grows you will have an increasing in size good nail and just cut off the grotty nail when you can. It’s gross but strangely satisfying and the feeling when you can go barefoot without worrying it’s amazing.

And the nail has to grow out.

I was recommended to use Vick in the area - pushing it under the nail when removing gunk. I think it helped but who knows when it is all so slow.

My infected toe nail took at least a year to grow out. It's worth persevering.

The nails won't magically be restored they should grow out without infection so just keep them short.
If they are the same when they grow out they are permanently damaged and will not recover although they will be fungus free.

Pretty quickly actually, it's just that nails grow slowly.
