To just want life to move on to the summer!

I’m normally the first to say don’t wish your life away but with the horrendous weather we’ve had over the winter , Corona virus , stock market falling etc I’m just looking forward to getting out the other side to longer hopefully sunny days, and a bit more positivity. Any one else care to join me in looking forward to the first spring / summer bbq with the smell of freshly mown grass in the air!

Good God, yes

Am stuck in feeling really negative though, walking the dog in the pissing rain every morning, feeling generally hacked off

Am thinking about how nice a warm-ish day with a bit of sun would be, still seems so far off Sad

Sorry, am normally very positive but struggling a bit right now Grin

fartyface · 05/03/2020 22:19

I feel exactly the same as you humans. I am normally very positive too

Nearlyadoctor · 05/03/2020 22:21

I have to say I am normally a very positive person and actually quite like the winter but this one has gone on forever.

Been saying this for weeks. The cold and dark seem relentless, I'm just so sick 8it.

wanderings · 05/03/2020 22:21

Yep, right now it’s wet, and the world is going mad. Roll on summer (and I don’t want to hear any moans about the heat, to do so in England is a sin).

Kez200 · 06/03/2020 04:35

Yes! This!

2020 has been a crock of you know what so far.

Lost a mate to cancer in early Jan. Almost lost another to sepsis too, they are still recovering now. Plus all this other stuff.

Like everyone else, I need summer! A lovely one is desperately needed.

Bluewavescrashing · 06/03/2020 04:56

I'm so over school runs in the pouring rain. Mud and deep puddles everywhere. Spending weekend after weekend indoors. Ugh.

I'm sure someone chirpy will be here in a minute saying, just stick the kids in a puddle suit and wellies and go to the woods. But a) it's freezing and gloves plus wet weather gear is just too much faff for me, b) even if the DCs are happy I certainly wouldn't be hanging around outside in torrential rain and 3 degrees temp, and c) I've had a nasty virus on top of chronic illness for the last 3 weeks and need to be warm and dry to avoid murderous thoughts.

I'd like 22 degrees, warm, sunny days, DRY, slight breeze please. Extreme weather of any kind pisses me off hugely.

Bluewavescrashing · 06/03/2020 04:57

@Kez200 sorry for your loss Flowers

Kez200 · 06/03/2020 04:59

Thanks.

sittingonacornflake · 06/03/2020 05:32

I am so with you. I've never felt so bloody miserable about wi term as I have this winter. It's my first one with a toddler so that,Ishtar have something to do with. I'm so OVER rain!

BoucleEponine · 06/03/2020 05:37

No! Spring is here and it's the best time of year in England- autumn is a close second. Don't wish away our glorious spring for months of muggy weather ... and rain!

Bluewavescrashing · 06/03/2020 06:38

It's not very glorious yet though, is it?

evilharpy · 06/03/2020 06:42

Couldn’t agree more. I hate winter anyway and would happily hibernate from 1 October to 1 April every year, but this year has been the worst for a long time. It’s the relentless rain. If it’s just cold/windy/snowing at least you can get out but who wants to go for a walk when it’s 4°C and raining sideways?

Gohackyourself · 06/03/2020 06:46

I totally agree to!
I work outside and accept winter, but it’s just been a constant wet battle everyday. The dogs are soaking wet on their walks too then bring it home.
What with corona virus news etc it’s just all a drag

AJPTaylor · 06/03/2020 06:49

God yes.
I have been unemployed for the last 6 months and the endless rain is unbearable!

ruby29 · 06/03/2020 06:55

Right with you there. It’s been a terrible winter which feels like it’s going on for ever. My Mum died at Christmas. Whole host of other very stressful life events and relentless rain and freezing wind makes life feel so miserable. At least the daylight hours are getting longer.

Passthecake30 · 06/03/2020 07:01

Come on people, we are almost approaching the other side now. Mornings are lighter, the birds are starting earlier, evenings are lighter, daffodils are out, yes, it's been long (and wet)) but it's not been that cold (here...?) and we are nearly there!

DinosApple · 06/03/2020 07:12

Brighter days are on the way. The snow drops are over, the daffs, hyacinths, irises and crocuses are out.

The constant rain is an arse ache, but end of the month is clock change so at least it'll be brighter, if not drier.

Less rain would be good though, I'm a dinner lady and help 30 small children into and out of their waterproofs each soggy day.

Sorry you've had a horrible time ruby29 Flowers.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 06/03/2020 07:13

Sorry to hear about your mum Ruby29

evilharpy · 06/03/2020 07:14

The flowers coming out are not cheering me up at all because it’s too bloody wet to go out and look at them.

evilharpy · 06/03/2020 07:14

SureTry · 06/03/2020 07:16

It hasn't been too cold where I am. It's just the constant rain that's getting to me. I hate the cold but I would prefer crisp, cold days that I can wrap up against, instead of this constantly wet, grey, muddy days.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 06/03/2020 07:16

I usually really like the winter, and I don't even particularly really wish it was summer. I just want it to stop raining! This week has been slightly better so I asked the kids if they would like to go to one of the castles with country park near us this weekend. They were really looking forward to it, checked the weather, its to be absolutely pishing the whole weekend.

sockittome123 · 06/03/2020 07:19

Flowers to Kez and Ruby

I'm just fed up of the darkness. Today was the first morning of getting ready without my lamp on and it's given me hope. But I can't wait to go out in a T-shirt without a coat, and go for a long walk without sinking in mud or hurrying to get home before it gets dark.

Bubblysqueak · 06/03/2020 08:12

Winter is my favourite season, but we haven't really had a winter. I can count on 1 hand how many mornings we have woken up to a frost (today being 1of them) it hasn't been cold enough and far too wet.
I'm not a fan of hot weather but anything will be better than this constant rain.
