Slow release toilet roll holder... is there such a thing?

Surely someone must have invented a toilet roll holder for peoples homes, which helps stop half the loo roll ending up on the floor when a small child gets to it??

Any ideas, tips, wild creations to save paper, the planet and pennies?

Thanks Smile

I have the same issue so hoping someone has good advice!

PawPawNoodle · 04/03/2020 23:35

Crazy, wild tip - put the thing out of your child's reach. It's free, too.

Flatten the toilet roll so the cardboard in the middle isn't round.
It won't unravel as easily.

drivingtofrance · 04/03/2020 23:39

Yes as above. Squeeze the roll a bit so it's not perfectly circular.

WTFdidwedo · 04/03/2020 23:40

@PolPotNoodle Hmm

PixieDustt · 04/03/2020 23:46

Always one sarcastic and rude one isn't there.. I don't think there is anything unless you want to buy a Tork dispenser but squeezing the loo roll helps as PP's mentioned

Whatsnewpussyhat · 04/03/2020 23:54

My old workplace used to have ones with a weighted metal flap that curved round over the loo roll.

Another one suggesting flattening the inner tube, it certainly slows the unraveling, however does apparently introduce a rather appealing noise as it does (Ber dum, Ber dum, Ber dum) adding to the attraction

I've actually got those tork one sheet dispensers in my house- the same ones as you get in public toilets.
Out of necessity. My 6 year old is autistic and has a thing about flushing whole toilet rolls down the toilet, cardboard and all. There have been multiple plumber callouts for the same thing and the last time he was out I got a frequent user discount Blush

Centrefeed toilet rolls for the dispensers are flipping expensive though- around £3 a roll.

thedailymailisbogroll · 05/03/2020 09:34

Forgot to say you can get the dispensers on Ebay

crapette · 05/03/2020 09:34

OMG @ChameleonCircuit we used to have one of those. The mouth opened and closed as you unrolled.

ColdCottage · 05/03/2020 20:09

Thank you all sorry phone went to sleep and been busy all day.

Good tips RE squishing the roll.

@Whatsnewpussyhat that was what I was looking for on Amazon last night. Where did you find them?

I just typed ''toilet roll holder with flap'
Into google.

GrockleRock · 05/03/2020 20:21

I got so fed up a few weeks ago, I put a pile of neatly stacked seperated toilet roll sheets for DD to use a few at a time!

It lasted a day, then I gave her the roll back Confused
