I want to take my DC to Japan - any tips?

I have received some inheritance and it's been a dream to take the DC to Japan. Has anyone been? Any tips on when/where to go? I don't know anyone that's been before to ask IRL!

I've been and plan to go again next year. It's an easy country to visit. I am taking my 3 children, and having a combination of Tokyo bright lights and techy stuff sightseeing, outdoor hot springs, some temples, Hiroshima to see places they learned about in school, burying in hot sands and mud in volcanic areas and mountain hikes. Staying at self catered places and using Japan Rail Pass to travel.

Check the season before you book. Late June is rainy season and then it's typhoon season.
