What colour should I paint my chimney breast?

Small living room. We’re painting the walls white, mid grey sofa, ocre cushions, teal throws and art work. Flooring, mantle and shelving is oak, slate hearth, grey tv unit with copper legs, copper framed mirror above fireplace. That sounds like a lot going on!

I don’t want to paint it grey but it needs something?

Your room sounds lovely. I think I'd paint it teal but a shade or 2 darker than your throws.

I like the idea of teal, bit worried it’ll suck the light out of the room. We’ve got this in the kitchen so I could match it
