Anyone been to the Sylvanian families shop in London?

My daughter is desperate to go.

It’s a bit of a trek (not talking hours but hour in to London and then 30 mins there). She’s very keen though

Worth it?!

Do they have a windmill? My DD desperately wants a windmill. She doesn't really seeing as she's 26 and never liked them as much as I do.

Do you mean the one at this address: 68 Mountgrove Rd, Finsbury Park, London N5 2LT

We went once as happened to walk past it when DD was younger while visiting a friend who lived nearby. It was ok to pop in and have a look around but not sure its worth a special trip? its not very big.

CatChant · 03/03/2020 14:49

Not for a few years because DD is grown-up now but we used to make regular pilgrimages when she was younger. She adored the shop and the range of stock available was very impressive. As I recall they used to have Japanese exclusives that weren't available elsewhere in the UK.

I'd combine it with a trip to something else such as the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, which is also easily reached by public transport.

Have fun.

I wouldn't go unless you're prepared to buy your daughter loads of stuff!

Love Sylvanians though

Tolleshunt · 03/03/2020 14:51

How did I not know about this?! DD is Sylvanians mad so am I and we live in London. We need to go!

mimbleandlittlemy · 03/03/2020 15:33

OP and CatChant - the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood closes on 11th May this year and doesn't reopen until 2022 so don't make a special journey thinking you can fit that in too, unless you go in the next 10 weeks.

There was a Sylvanians shop in the middle of Soho for a few months on the corner of Brewer and Lexington streets. There might be another one soon, I'd watch their FB page.

Xiaoxiong · 03/03/2020 16:04

(And yes it was adorable and they had all kids of big things like windmills and Ferris wheels!)

RuffleCrow · 03/03/2020 16:07

We went when my dd was at the height of her sylvanian craze. She loved it. They had a special event on that day so she got a hat and balloon. It's only a very small shop but has most sf things a small child could want. She's now 13 and still remembers. Happy days. Grin

It’s a lovely shop but it is very small. There’s a nice cafe next door so you could treat yourself to lunch too. I can imagine it will be an expensive day out but if you’ve got the money and the time it’s nice.

Mediumred · 03/03/2020 16:17

It’s a really nice shop, very small, but it does have limited edition ranges you can’t get elsewhere and the staff are v knowledgeable and happy to let you browse. Clissold Park is very close and is a lovely spot with a great playground, large ponds and some small animal exhibits if the weather is not too bad.

Bringringbring12 · 03/03/2020 16:43

Thank you so much for saving me the journey!

Ok won’t do that.

Mashedpotatobrains

We (or rather dd) has the windmill. She's 17t now and hasn't played with her SF for years but she still won't relinquish them. We have thousands of points width of buildings (from as small as the off pancake shop or ice cream stand to as big as the hotel!), vehicles, accessories and families all stored in huge boxes in the back of the garage.
