Anyone have 2 smaller duvets instead of one large one?

Super king bed.

Absolutely sick to death od DP and his cover hogging.

Just woke up after him taking my 1/5 to further wrap himself up.

Anyone else do this?

Am thinking I could just grab matching double covers when they're on sale

this is normal in a lot of european countries. I love it

LoveIsLovely · 03/03/2020 04:39

We have two double duvets. Not matching covers, I'm not organised enough for that. It's amazing and stops me wanting to murder my husband in his sleep.

We have two singles

Yep we have separate duvets for this exact reason and sleep so much better! The only issue is that ours are both a bit too big for the bed so they tend to fall off, and they look a bit messier when made. So I would recommend smaller ones as you say.

We have a double duvet each! Just have a standard size bed but it works for us

pennow · 03/03/2020 05:38

We have two king size duvets on a super king bed.i love wrapping mine right round me. Think I would go for two double if I started again as they do look a bit messy when the bed is made

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 03/03/2020 05:55

We have a single each on a king size bed. It's life changing.

AGoodPodcastAndANiceCupOfTea · 03/03/2020 05:56

We have two doubles (because I'm too tight to pay for two Singens when we already had two doubles). At some point I will buy matching covers but not right now! It never looks perfect but so what? Like isn't perfect and I live in a home not a show home.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 03/03/2020 05:56

They don't look messy if you fold them Scandi style.

DXBMermaid · 03/03/2020 05:59

We each have our own. We have one Kingsize duvet which I put on the bed first and then a Superking which I put on top. Personally I think it's the secret to a happy marriage 😆

anothernotherone · 03/03/2020 06:00

Yes, we have had for 20 years! Infinitely preferable in every way IMO.

CroissantsAtDawn · 03/03/2020 06:02

We have 2 doubles and have done since we first moved in together cos DH is totally incapable of sharing a duvet (I hate hotels for this reason).

We only recently bought matching covers.

franke · 03/03/2020 06:02

Yes. We have a European size which is between a single and a double. Much prefer it to sharing one big heavy duvet.

Toomanygerbils · 03/03/2020 06:03

I normally have the opposite problem, in the coldest winter my hubby is like a blazing fire when asleep. I wake up with layers of covers on me piled up! I’ve level duvets but only ever use the “summer” one for that reason. Although if he occasionally works nights I have to layer up or change it!

CallarMorvern · 03/03/2020 06:06

We have two singles on a super king bed. I frequently tell people it's the secret to marital bliss😁. I've kept the super king quilt and put it over the top when making the bed, this looks neater and saves the need for two matching single covers.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/03/2020 06:09

I currently have a ten tog.
DH has a four tog.

I think DH is weird. He thinks I'm weird. In the summer we share.

SimonJT · 03/03/2020 06:15

I have two double duvets on a superking bed, it’s handy if people prefer different togs as well. I only have white bedding so when the beds made you don’t really notice unless you have a good look.

alphasox · 03/03/2020 06:21

We got two doubles on our King about 12 years ago after a trip to Holland where we had this in a b&b. It’s wonderful and I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t do it! My OH has a 13 tog as he is always cold and I have a 8 in winter and we love our set up.

woodencoffeetable · 03/03/2020 06:22

yes.
super king size bed and single duvets.
separate matresses as well.
it's bliss.
single covers are much easier to change as well.

Polestar50 · 03/03/2020 06:22

I am so jealous of people with two single duvets!
We experienced it once in a hotel and I thought it was genius. I toss and turn and like to wrap my legs around the edge of the duvet. Having a duvet to myself means I can get it just the right no matter what position I'm lying in.
Sadly my partner disagrees and prefers the cosiness of a shared duvet so we've stuck with the status quo for now. I have plans though...

Joyeuse · 03/03/2020 10:32

We've recently swapped to two singles on a superking bed after a trip abroad with this arrangement - I would never swap back although DH is not so keen. He used to roll himself up in the large duvet and I was left with no covers hence why it suits me better Grin

FickleTickle · 03/03/2020 10:36

We have two singles. It is the best from a laundry point of view but also duvet hogging. I'm from the burrito school of snuggling where DH is more of the fling it off and leave it off so it has worked from that pov too.

OddBoots · 03/03/2020 10:39

I have a double and dh has a single as we have different warmth preferences. We have done for 20+ years and hate it in hotels when we have to share a duvet, we have been known to bring a spare with us.

pusspuss9 · 03/03/2020 10:45

do look a bit messy when the bed is made

fold each one in half after making the bed.

Brefugee · 03/03/2020 14:26

gosh yes - live in Europe so separate mattresses and separate quilts. It's the next best thing to having your own room.
