And are they any good?

If so what model do you recommend?

Another Panasonic bread machine owner here. Mine's the SD-2501 with the seed dispenser and timer.

I have made 'jam' in mine. It's not really a jam, more a compôte. Still tasty though.

I will admit I didn't buy any bread for the first 5+? years I had it, then circumstances changed and I didn't use it anywhere near as much but I've just got back into using it again; I'd forgotten just how tasty the bread can be.

Panasonic 2512, brilliant machine, you can toss in the ingredients at night time and come in to the kitchen to the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning.

Even our cheapy Tesco one is very good, as long as you measure carefully - we've made bread, cake, and pizza dough with good success. (Though I'd like a Panasonic at some point.)

Also have a Panasonic. It's fabulous.

Really recommend this book- every recipe I've tried has been great: amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1905862954/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1]]

And I use this yeast. Just keep it in freezer to keep it fresher. Works wonderfully even though it's not specifically bread maker yeast and it's a huge pot:

Another Panasonic sd-2501, here. Don't use it constantly but it does make lovely bread, particularly wholemeal.

I use the orange packets of doves Farm yeast. I seal them with a klippet and they krrp forever in my fridge door.

FruityWidow · 03/03/2020 07:53

Another Panasonic sd2500. Perfect bread every time.

I’m very tempted by one

Especially as we want to buy a pizza oven

I thought it had to be a special breadmaker for sourdough...or am i falling for the special breadmaker hype

KaptenKrusty · 03/03/2020 08:54

The sourdough is a bit more complicated @RufustheLanglovingreindeer

We get the maker to knead the dough / starter - but then we take it out to let it prove overnight and bake it in the oven then rather than leaving the machine to bake it

There are loads of different recipes out there though with various advice / proving time etc

BrownAjah · 03/03/2020 08:58

Panasonic SD2500 here. Makes fab bread. We're massive bread snobs now because all other shop bread tastes awful in comparison Grin

Thank you very much kapten

I’ll have a little look as some of the recipes
