Hi we have a family holiday booked for the first time in years and now may have to cancel! If that's the case I'll be looking for. UK holiday for myself and three DC (one with asd) and wonder if anyone has any recommendations? Looking to spend around £1k if that's possible

What time of year. I love the Lake District and St Ives in Cornwall. They both feel like real holiday places and are exceptionally beautiful with great places to eat and visit and natural beauty. Obviously opposite ends of the country though! The Lakes for outdoors and St Ives for beaches and chilling out. Been to both in the rain and still had fun but in the sun they are stunning. They can both be expensive or you can get a caravan or camp. If it's in the summer holidays you would need to book in both x

Aviemore. It has everything, even a beach.

We did with DD

Devon/Cornwall border
Derbyshire
Norfolk
Forest of Dean

The last one is very much an outdoor holiday and we were unlucky with the weather so it was a bit of a downer. But I would go again.

Cornwall is fantastic, so much to do although you will need a car

We had a fabulous week in Cornwall - DS spent long days on the beach, had a surfing lesson, hired a body-board etc. We stayed away from the most touristy areas as much as we could, though, as they were so packed. We also had a fab week in Norfolk.

Swanage/Isle of Purbecks in Dorset.
Very gorgeous and lots to do and see. Holiday cottages/Lets can be pricey. We stayed in a static caravan on a quiet site. Lookout Park i think it was called.

Northumbria has great beaches, castles and countryside and if the weather is shit then Newcastle and indoor attractions and also Beamish is the best place to take kids for a day or more. We did not see it all in one day but a pass lasts for a year. Trams, steam trains, mines, Victoian bakeries with the best pies ever- brilliant!

Isle of Wight is great for kids. A couple of theme parks (family rather than thrill rides) and lots of pubs with play areas. Plus kids enjoy the ferry crossing.
