I can't find any anywhere.

I know soap and water is best but I use public transport daily and obviously I can't wash my hands on a bus full of people.

Have immune system compromised family so would really feel better!

I've tried 4 boots and 2 super drug stores. 2 local chemist's and supermarkets. Non anywhere

Maybe not the answer you wanted but you could soak some wet wipes in alcohol and carry them in a plastic bag? You could always chew on them too if your day was getting a bit boring Grin

Extracurricularfatigue · 02/03/2020 13:26

Hand sanitiser doesn’t do much really. You’re better off washing your hands with soap and water when you get off public transport and not touching your face or eating before you’ve done so.

TK Max were doing them but not the big size but handbag size £2.99 but that's the only place I've seen them

Wahhhhh · 02/03/2020 13:32

I got some mini ones from primark but they don't smell like alcohol so doubt they are 70%+ like recommended

Extra I use public transport as I don't drive so often I'm going to the park or aldi or post-office etc... So places that don't have toilets or hand washing facilitiesive read if the hand gels ar 70% alcohol or more they DO kill viruses.

I use public transport too and am a habitual hand washer, so I do understand. But I manage with traditional soap and water most of the time. Take a bar of soap with you in case of dodgy public loos without any in the park etc. Think about how you’re using your hands and what you’re touching (and what might have touched that).

Wahhhhh · 02/03/2020 13:53

Most of the time... Yes, so did I until there's was an epidemic of illness that could kill a member of my family.

I have no choice but to touch the bars on the bus as I have mobility issues.

Can you wear gloves?

Extracurricularfatigue · 02/03/2020 14:08

I do sympathise. But the question is how often do you have to touch something or someone after touching the bus poles without being able to wash your hands.

I’m sorry, I was trying to offer an alternative to reassure you in the absence of sanitisers. I know it’s much harder to avoid touching things/people if you have tiny children for example.

goingoverground · 02/03/2020 14:20

You can make your own hand sanitiser with surgical spirit (rubbing alcohol)/vodka/cologne.

gamerchick · 02/03/2020 14:24

Personally I think it might be easier for you to wear gloves and make a conscious effort not to touch your face. Get a few pairs so you can along them in the wash and maybe have a disposable pair on underneath.

I wouldn't put my faith in hand gels anyway.

originalusernamefail · 02/03/2020 14:28

Maybe carry a little pack of sani-wipes in your handbag? That way you physically remove the bugs nearly as well as washing. Will try to attach pic.

Here I go.....

Another little help ......

Put Vaseline in each nostril, just a small bit just inside.
Old wives tail but I do it all the time.

Dettol wipes for your hands.
